Black Friday pepper spray suspect surrenders in LA

A woman suspected of showering Black Friday shoppers with pepper spray surrendered to authorities but was released pending further investigation after she refused to discuss the incident, police said Saturday.

The woman, whose name was not released, is suspected of firing pepper spray into a crowd in order to clear a path to a crate of Xbox video game players that were being unwrapped late Thanksgiving night at a Walmart in the upscale Porter Ranch section of the San Fernando Valley.

The suspect got away in the confusion, and it was not known if she bought one of the Xboxes. Ten people suffered minor injuries from the spray and 10 others sustained cuts and bruises in the ensuing chaos.

"Last night at 8:30 the suspect involved in the pepper spray incident at the Porter Ranch Walmart turned herself in," police Sgt. Jose Valle said Saturday. She immediately invoked her right against self-incrimination, however, and refused to discuss the incident further.

Any money she might have save will be spent on lawyers and/or bail.

Forget about jail-time. They can’t even keep the Lohan gal in jail more than half-a-day before they have to release her. For pepper-spray? Maybe four hours max of jail-time.

Well, the description of the Walmart location - an upscale section of San Fernando Valley kind of wipes out my theory.
Of course she could have traveled figuring all the rich folk wouldn’t bother getting out for the SALE.
It actually was a pretty well planned caper, as from what I understand she kind of laid down a mist - if you think training for a marathon is hard, figure how many doses of pepper spray she had to take to immunize herself from the full brunt. Probably the first ‘plan’ of her life and if my theory is correct she will probably be charged with a felony, premeditated at that.
And if she was working alone - must have been, otherwise others would have been there to ‘help’ her.
Of course, IMNSHO, anyone who would spend 9 or 10 hours in line to crash a door like a herd of wounded buffaloes probably deserves a little pepper sprayin...specially those that take they chilluns along for the ‘fun’.

There is a picture of me coming out of the ‘gas chamber’ in boot camp with a big grin on my face...guess because a lot the ‘big guys’ kind of panicked and got disoriented while it seemingly didn’t bother me.

Sent me to Radio School (Morse Code) right after that - probably (correctly) figured I was ‘nutz’ enough to handle it

Is anybody else disturbed by the violence and fighting on Black Friday in recent years?

The day after Thanksgiving has always been the kick off of Christmas shopping, and has always been a very busy day. But it’s only the past few years that you can count on multiple news reports from around the country, reporting violence related to scrambling for the bargains.

She could have eaten beans for a week and pretty much had the same effect. Also it’s perfectly legal.

Yep. And I am disturbed by the fact that these days, in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, Black Friday gets more coverage than Thanksgiving itself.

Yes! And the stores who do this can share in the blame, as well as the unruly customers.

Stores don't pepper-spray customers, people do.

Thanks for posting

So if people are willing to go to these extremes over Black Friday Sales...imagine what they are going to do if we have some sort of food/power disruption.

Think about it. Scarey. That's why the best commodity to buy isn't gold or silver...its lead.

Actions by idiots like this will ultimately cause more do-gooders in Washington to want to tightly regulate the sale of Mace/Pepper Spray/Stun Guns, etc. I guarantee you in due time, we will have to do a NICS check and fill out a 4473 just to buy a 1oz cartridge of Mace.
