Food, ammo, THEN gold. It has it’s place; seems most people discussing it take the simplistic view of acquiring only one, not all.

If you have a Cessna, I assume you’ve got the rest figured out.

You need some sauerkraut....it lasts forever, and has good nutrient value...plus, it’s cheap....or it was.

Absolutely. But putting all of your assets into the form of stacks and stacks of canned food and ammo won't help you if the situation changes and you have to flee with what you can carry.

And that tends to happen a lot in turbulent times.

Yes it is.

And nobody (at least not on FR) will be able to say they were not warned, over and over, to get ready for it.

” It’s awesome. “

It’s a good start, anyway —

Might I suggest adding a store of salt - yes, plain old salt...

Iodized salt for nutrition, and coarse salt for a myriad of uses, such as food preservation....

It’s pretty basic, and it ain’t as sexy as all of the other foodstuffs, but it’s relatively inexpensive to buy, easy to store, and you’re gonna need it....

“Nothing is more essential, than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular Nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded...The Nation, which indulges towards another an habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest.”

Too bad we don’t teach about the founding fathers anymore in our Universities and public schools. We traded them for liberalism’s global Marxism which goes exactly where we were warned not to go!

you are correct. The “could” question was answered in 2008, 2009, 2010, ans 2011 both in the Uited States and Europe. So now it is only a question of when.

I guess they are going to find out all about that “free health care” now and why we resisted it for so long. A lot of Americans voted for the current crop of politicans based on the promise they would make America just like Europe and those socialists are crashing us with Europe as fast as they can.

It will be interesting to see the fall out of American banks if the Euro crashes.

"What to do, what to doooooo!!!???!!! "

Buy and store food.

Plant fruit trees - learn what grows wild and is edible in your area...

Black clouds cover the horizon, the lightening is flashing and there is the distant sound of thunder! The storm flags are going up, who you heed them?

I am very aware that if it’s the great end that there is nothing I can do to stop or change it, but history is full of instances and times when man or nature have caused such a calamity that people have cried out and begged God to end it all.

The bible has many verse such as this:

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

This verse and others are there for a reason and I urge all to take heed of them, because we are clearly on the edge. Everyday there is a new story about the ‘Yutes’ who grow more restless everyday and when you add the fact that because of the economy people are already on edge it won’t take much to set things off.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8)” (1998)
Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.

Today we have ‘yutes’ who roam our streets who are with out morals, without respect for law or life itself. They will look are you with the same ‘doll eyes’ a shark does before he eats you and they will feel no more compassion than the shark does.

That will be the test of many. Most preppers I know are Christian people and they will hesitate to do what they might have to do to stop the ‘yutes’. On the other hand the ‘yutes’ won’t think twice nor lose a minute of sleep, in fact they will smile and laugh about it.

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

http://www.tomeaker.com/kart/preparedness1i.pdf

(NOTE THIS DOWNLOAD IS FREE AND I DO NOT MAKE A DIME OFF OF IT. ALSO NOTE THAT THE MANUAL IS CLEARLY MARKED AS NOT BEING FOR SALE. I PUT TOGETHER THIS MANUAL FOR ONLY ONE PURPOSE AND THAT IS TO HELP FELLOW PATRIOTS TO PREPARE THEMSELVES FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IS COMING.)

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

For a somber, yet realistic look at what SHFT is like read some of Selco’s post:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2798007/posts

If you like to read more about what SHTF in Bosnia was like take a look at this post on Bosnia War Survivor Selco’s Blog at:

http://shtfschool.com/

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger. Underestimation can be fatal.”

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Seeds would be nice. Something that grows fast like tomatoes, maybe cherry tomatoes where you can grow them indoors.

A run on Euroland banks would be the next sign of a meltdown there and not mom n’ pops looking to withdrawal but businesses and corporations fleeing local banking.

Salt is valuable.

The word salary itself comes from salarium which was when Romans and others were paid with salt.
Either paid with salt or given a stipend so they could buy it.

I have a son studying in Belguim. He buys his food one day at a time in town by foot as he travels to and from school. I keep warning him to stock up some but he does not listen to me.

He thinks I am nuts to store food like I do but I always have done that. It’s a tradition from our family to store extra food. I don’t understand why he thinks that is not necessary - like buying insurance. He’s a super smart guy but he’s going to be sorry if the euro collapses.

We’re in worse shape than Europe. There’s way too little manufacturing for sustainable revenues to pay government debt here

Our country is fortunate to still have many resources and valuable land. Not saying our debt is a good investment, just to say we can find a way out of it although painful.

IMHO if we can keep the lights on (literally) we can still have something that resembles an economy. It won’t be pretty, but will at least not be TEOTWAWKI.

You can bet the diplomatic advisory cable (internal) from the British Foreign Office is being drafted up with respect to US domestic situation in 2012. If you have not already taken the precautions for you and your loved ones, it is not too late. Don't miss the boat!!!

I think I'll be getting a Big Berkey water purifier for Christmas. :) A good, healthy investment even during non-disaster times.

Don't forget to squirrel away some giant containers of peanut butter and raw, unfiltered honey. It's also a good idea to research the use of calcium hypochlorite for water purification.
