No one with any understanding of how our “touchy-feely” federal government makes decisions can possibly believe that if the country provides amnesty in the form of a “path to legality” for some illegals (ie: those who have been here 25 years) that it will stop there.
We all know that once a liberal or a RINO gets a social policy established by law or decree it becomes a “right”, expanding until it encompasses the universe.
Once some illegals have that “right” we will be subjected to hanky-wringing cries of anguish over the lack of “fairness”, cries of racism, lawsuits, demonstrations and soon the “path to legality” will become available to all illegals.
Public housing and food stamps were initiated as programs limited in scope to provide temporary assistance to people down on their luck. Eventually the rules were weakened and the programs were expanded in scope until we now have the 4th or 5th generation of people who have never know any other way to live.
That is what will happen to a “limited” amnesty program. Once it is in place the rules will be changed until there are essentially no restrictions on qualifying.
Why stop there? If we get a candidate who wants to deport 12M people en masse, will the touchy-feely fed govt let him do it? No.
OTOH, if our candidate wants to add another layer of bureaucracy, hire a legion of, oh, ex-postal workers or union goons or disgruntled teachers...to administer a program for sorting, tagging, documenting, handholding, iris-reading and organ-donor carding twelve to twenty million people, not to mention charging the chargeable ones $5K that they can work off over time...yeah, I think the fed govt would go for some of that action. :)
