So how is this going to work? Does an illegal who’s been here 24 yrs admit they’re one yr short, and get deported? If an illegal’s been here 18 yrs, how is it going to be proven they’re seven years short? What motivation does an illegal who’s been here 10 yrs have for either not making a case for the full 25, or else remaining ‘in the shadows’?

Is there some grand index, that tracks where each illegal is and how long they’ve been here? No; there isn’t. The idea that we will just somehow ‘know’ which ones are lying and which ones are laying low—i.e.: not changing their status quo at all—is silly. The plan is useless.

So how is this going to work?

Well, gee, I would think a person would have to present documenation showing they've been here the required number of years. If not, they get deported.

Now, then, let me ask you the same question - deporting every single illegal alient - HOW IS THIS GOING TO WORK? If there's a way, I'm all for it. NOBODY has a plan. And please don't say "self-deportation". Many would do the same with Newt's plan, as most wouldn't qualify to stay.
