Congresswoman Bachmann appears to be conveniently forgetting her own views on immigration in order to score political points. During the presidential debate at the Reagan Library on September 7, she said she won't deport all 11 million illegal immigrants here in the United States.

HARRIS: A quick 30-second rebuttal on the specific question. The fence is built, the border is under control. What do you do with 11.5 million people who are here without documents and with U.S.- born children?
BACHMANN: Well, that's right. And again, it is sequential, and it depends upon where they live, how long they have been here, if they have a criminal record. All of those things have to be taken into place.
Sounds almost identical to Newt's position that once we secure the border first, we can have a humane enforcement policy vis-a-vis some of those remaining.

When Newt pushed his pro-ILLEGAL alien position conservatives on FR who did not agree are yet again being attacked.
FR is not a place to push the leftist position of amnesty. These are not my rules, they are the rules of the management.
I'm all for that. It should have been done a long time ago. And, if I were King, I would do away with the whole "anchor baby" scheme with anoints the children of illegals with U.S. citizenship. In fact, if were King, I would revoke that status from all of them.
But I'm not King.
And 30% would be nice but I don't see it. 3% maybe.
Exactly, where is this support for Newt coming from, he’s worse than McCain? Both have practically the same positions except that Gingrich has tons more baggage. It’s like 2008 all over again when we had to choose between McCain and Romney. I’ll stick with the conservatives candidates even though we all agree none of them are perfect.
I won’t take a shot at anyone who doesn’t want to vote for Newt. But I’m pretty darned sure at this point that I will!
This seems the logical route. Why should we deport them? Take away the freebies and they won't come here in the first place.
It matters WHY they are coming here.
Ya think?
Alabama reaps huge rewards from immigration enforcement bill
That's up to you of course. But no, I have not capitulated.
But my problem with all of the "Anti-amnesty" folks is they complain about the problem, declare NO AMNESTY, and then offer ... NOTHING. It's like the weather. Everyone talks about it but nobody (except Al Gore) does anything about it.
What's the plan? We never hear any kind of plan except those that are supposedly going to make them leave voluntarily. Not going to happen. It will take police. Lots of them.
Not once but twice, first in the primaries then in the general. And here I was hoping 2008 would be a distant memory.
You are the one supporting amnesty not me, after we try five years and a fence get back to me and tell me if it is working.
And I like Santorum. I wish he were doing better. Unfortunately, he is behind Huntsman in the polling.
At least we know who they are and have these posts to prove it.
You are the one supporting amnesty not me, after we try five years and a fence get back to me and tell me if it is working.

I AM NOT supporting amnesty. If it were up to me I would take away the citizenship of the anchor babies. I don’t support citizenship for anyone who entered this country illegally or their children.
But we are dreaming if we think a secure fence is going to start a Southern flow of illegals back to Mexico. Why would they go?
I’m still waiting for the plan to send half the people in Los Angeles back to Mexico.
11.5 million? Ha! Now they are not only low-balling the number of illegals here to a third or less of the real number, but they are adding a “.5” to make it sound like it’s a precisely data-based figure.
Post of the day. You’re right. “Law without force is impotent’’.-— Thomas Jefferson.
It is unbelievable when you have proof, from Alabama, Oklahoma and Arizona, that they will self deport you still have these nuts declaring they will not. One is fact the other is fiction.
+++++++++++++++++
I guess I’m one of those nuts. I don’t think self-deportation will work to any significant level. But I’m willing to learn. So a couple of question:
When the illegals left Alabama, Oklahoma and Arizona do we know where they went? Mexico. Texas. California.
Is there any quantitative data around that you can use to make your case?
You need more than just anecdotal evidence. You need a headcount estimate and some idea of where they went. I would think you don’t have that data since it would hard for anyone to actually collect.
But if you have the data and the flow from these states was back to Mexico them I could become convinced that self-deportation could work.
When it comes to warts Newt is the Warthog.
