I guess that I’m just “heartless” then...I simply refuge to have ANY SYMPATHY for these people because I know what will follow:
1) 25 years becomes 20 becomes 12 becomes 5 years.
2) Having roots in the US becomes showing a water bill
3) 12 million people become 30 million due to undercounting
4) 30 million becomes 60 million as families are brought North
5) The Supreme Court refuses to permit 15% of legal Americans to be non-voters.
6) The Republican Party is finished as a major political party simply due to demographics involving voting patterns.
7) The United States, as it was known for 235 years is FINISHED, and we become a country that wants to be like Europe, but wind up more like Mexico.
Since I have kids, I don’t want that outcome. It will take about 20 years for this country to cease. There is a reason that I am “heartless” and want them back. For if they go home, none of the above happens...at least for a couple of generations, at least.
Newt may be the smartest man in the room, but he should take some time to learn demographics...because demographics determines destiny, ALWAYS.

No, that was the scenario everybody crucified Newt for. No one is naive enough to think that they are all like that, you know better. Get a grip. Cases like that DO EXIST. I know some. Did you even read my post? Are you reading comprehension challenged? I said the majority do not fit your description. But under the proposed plan, we get them all. The criminals, the rapists, the drunk drivers—anybody who claims they’ve been here the prescribed time. I repeat: we cannot prove they haven’t been. That’s the beauty of being illegal. You don’t need documentation. So along w the few that fit your rarified description, we get all kinds of criminals and leaches. A fact which appears to bother you Not At All.

Read up on California. It used to be the Golden State. It used to be the seventh largest economy in the world. Illegals have turned it into a third world dump. They helped elect Governor Moonbeam, to finish the job of killing what little remains of the former clean, beautiful state.

Unfortunately Newt will not have the final word once the floodgates are opened...judges will.
As to unifying the country, there is history. Ask the Romans how unifying with people from the east worked out for them.
At some point AMERICANS have to stand up and stop COWERING to these people. If Romney refuses to do it, then we better get someone else to...or we lose that chance, FOREVER.
