Four months ago Alabama passed the toughest immigration enforcement law in the nation. The left-wing has been doing everything to keep the bill tied up in the courts. However, even before going into effect, the bill is working.
Six weeks ago USAToday said that illegal aliens were packing up and leaving Alabama. USAToday actually reported this as if it was a bad thing.
Now there is more good news for Alabama. Unemployment has dropped significantly. In October, the unemployment rate went from 9.8 to 9.3. This .5% drop is five times larger than the drop in the national average. Counties most known for illegal aliens saw the biggest drop. Marshall County, known for illegal aliens working at the chicken processing plants, saw unemployment drop .7% in October.
Just the knowledge that Alabama intends to enforce immigration law in the future has sent illegal aliens packing.

Alabama now requires the following;
“The Alabama law directs schools to ascertain the immigration status of incoming students, through a birth certificate, other official documents or an affidavit by the childs parents (the law also directs schools to determine the immigration status of an enrolling childs parents, but gave no mechanism by which to do so).”
As you know, there are a boatload of defeatists on this site who believe that nothing can be done about the illegals and deride anyone who believes otherwise. They are especially prevalent on threads discussing Gingrich’s or Perry’s illegal alien positions.
Another pro illegal, pro amnesty defeatist. Thanks for your support.
Where I live at least, fewer students would eventually lead to lower property taxes as well.
Rick Perry has been Governor of this state for close to a decade and has done NOTHING even close to what Alabama has done in regards to illegals.
The only reasons Rick Perry has remained our Governor is the lack of serious candidates running against him, a network of money folks and the politically influential backing him.
Rick Perry is not well liked as media reports would indicate.
Really torques me that he began spouting his stance on illegals and border issues a few months before his gubernatorial re-election campaign kicked off.
Rickie had said all along, he was not running for POTUS while running for re-election. He was attempting to deceive the voters. He has had the top job stars in his eyes all along.
So, years of Rick Perry, we still have open borders, still have sanctuary cities, still have in state tuition's for kids of illegals.
“What a load of clap trap.”
I do find it interesting that a big-time Perry supporter would be dissing a state-level approach that seems to be working quite well (so far).
I realize that Perry yells “Secure the Border” at every chance...but I just have to wonder whether Perry really means it...given this comment.
I live in Northern California. All the “big box” stores are like an amalgamation of Tijuana, Cairo, Beirut, and Mumbai. Just go into the Costco here in Danville (which, incidentally provides something on the order of 30% of the town’s entire budget), and you think you’ve entered a Third World Country. Don’t know where they come from because they don’t live here. The Indians (the elephant riding kind) think they own the place, pushing their way at every possible point. The Middle Easterners are second, and the Asians third. On the other hand, the Hispanics tend to be the most polite and civilized but that may be because they are illegal and don’t want to attract “la migra.”
Why is that? This is great news that all conservatives should support. And everyone did but you? Why is that? I understand you defend RINO Rick and all he does for ILLEGAL aliens but this issue does not involve any of the candidates. It's great news for Alabamans and all Americans. Why would you feel the need to post an unsubstantiated negative remark?
I don’t support it because the courts will overturn it.
It was a poorly written bill.
I am not for illegal immigration but I am not for wasting time in courts at the peoples expense either.
Are you sure it wasn't a statement to the validity of the claim that ILLEGAL aliens are leaving and unemployment is down?
You pro-ILLEGAL alien people crack me up. Yours is a losing argument which is why you spend so much time backing away from it. Thanks for the laughs!
Part of the reason Perry said that the Az law was not right for Texas is that he realized the bill had flaws that would be challenged in court.
On such flaw was the mandate that would force officers to ask for proof of citizenship.(Show us you papers)
What Perry did in Texas was passed a law that made it “illegal to prevent” an officer from asking for papers.
I know it sounds like splitting hairs but Brewers bill ran into legal trouble immediately, even Obama directly attacked it.
Perry’s bill has not been challenged.
Perry is pro-ILLEGAL alien as is Obama. Why would Obama challenge a Perry bill?
Well, whether you just wanted to generate replies to a stupid one-liner (drive-by poster?) or made an ill-thought out comment that could be interpreted in more than one way is immaterial. Your excuse is that you are against the law.
This, IMO, is like wrapping yourself in the flag while making anti-US statements. You try to clothe yourself in a purer, nobler crusade to cover your bias.
So what if the law MAY be overturned? Look what even the suggestion of its passage has done, let alone its enactment. Do you honest-to-God think that if the law is overturned, all those illegals would flood back in? Everyone there tacitly acknowledges that if it is overturned, another, better-written one will follow. The legislature has made its intent known, and that is not lost on the illegals. They will not come back and in fact may continue to seep out.
Come up with something better.
Support the e-verify bill that Lamarr Smith is trying to get passed.
