"US Candidate Gingrich, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions" (El Molino)

(ENGLISH TRANSLATION): US Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich, Republican, For The Regularization of Immigration Status for Millions" In the Al Momento Noticias by El Molino - 11/23/2011 8:36 AM

Two things became clear after the conclusion of the eleventh televised debate of Republican candidates, that Newt Gingrich is emerging in the polls, Mitt Romney moving to, and that he understands the importance of the Latino vote in United States to reach the White House in 2012.

Last night, risking the wrath of the Tea Party rightwing who have set the tone on immigration in the debates, Gingrich took a position which he described as "humanitarian."

We reproduce his words, that rule this time there were the boos he received when Rick Perry also said many Republicans "have no heart" on the issue of immigration.

I do not understand how the party that claims to be the party of the family can take a position on immigration that destroys families who have been here a quarter century. And I'm prepared to accept criticism by saying, 'we are human to implement the law without giving them citizenship but finding a way to create no separate legal status for their families.' "

"I do not think that the people of United States going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are part of the community who may have done something 25 years ago, separated from their families and drive them away.

"If you came recently, and you have no roots in this country, then you must go. But here is the point. But let's say the person has been here 25 years, has three children, two grandchildren, pays taxes, respects the law, is part of a local church - I do not think they're were are going to split up, cut and eject such a family.

"The Krieble Foundation has a magnificent red card program that says it can be legalized without being a path to citizenship. So we managed to have a country where there is no illegality, without any amnesty given automatically to anyone. "

Later Gingrich said:

"I want to tell the people, 'go home'. I want to create a border controlled. I want a guest worker program that can manage American Express, Visa or Mastercard. I want to make English the official language of government. I am willing to be rigid. But I will not pull on somebody's hair and tease them. And I can not imagine any serious person in this country who believes that we must destroy families who have been here 20 or 25 years."

Newt Gingrich has spoken in favor of some aspects of the DREAM Act, which would give citizenship to people who came to the United States without documentation of children.

Were Gingrich to get the Republican nomination, this new political perspective poses serious problems for the reelection of President Barack Obama not long ago who said his "strategy" is to get the Latino vote would only reproduce extracts from comments of the Republican candidates on immigration.

LOL!

I will give Newt one kudo...he is the most able politician to stick his finger in the wind, and determine which way to proceed.

What an opportunist!

Boy...does no one here have migrant workers in their area?

Apparently you don’t. Most ILLEGAL aliens are not ‘migrant workers’. They are taking jobs from American citizens and depressing wages of those whose jobs they have yet to steal. Defining them as ‘migrant’ is uninformed at best. At worst it is downright disingenuous.

“illegal aliens”

So...if someone was here illegally 30 years ago, and has a family and business here, that person needs to leave?

You don’t think that there might be some kind of middle ground for those who have been productive? Like a green card which doesn’t automatically convey citizenship?

I totally agree that those who have been coming in and out of the country, and have been a drain on society, need to be deported. I will agree, too, that those in SoCal who are eating up the state’s budget need to be deported...ASAP.

You're making the liberal argument. Why is that?

If it involves letting the illegal aliens stay here, it’s amnesty, troll. We don’t support amnesty on FR.

“Defining them as ‘migrant’ is uninformed at best. At worst it is downright disingenuous. “

Calling me a liar does not mitigate the fact that there are actual legal Mexican workers in this country. I live in Oregon, and there are LEGAL migrant worker camps here.

BTW, the illegals have been taking the jobs of the legal migrant workers. I don’t like that one bit.

If they are legal already, they don’t need to be in any new specially created category. My comment was only about the illegal aliens that Newt wants to give a new special status without having to obey the law. At least that is what he said in the recent past, like a week ago. It seems that after he saw the result of his amnesty loving, the resulting loss of voter support, his mind has changed. In other words, flip-flop.

In fact your point is mine completely. We already have provisions for people coming here legally to do migrant work. Why does Newt think we need to make new special rules for illegals? Enforce the rules already on the books. That has always been our problem. The liberals and elites who believe that if they don’t like the rule, it does not have to be obeyed or enforced.

We need conservatives in office, especially the office of president, who will do what the law requires not create special laws. The person for that job is not Newt.

I did not call you a liar. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and said you could be uninformed. If you believe the garbage you write you are most certainly uninformed. Most ILLEGAL aliens are NOT 'migrant workers'. They are here to stay.

Most have taken or are trying to take jobs that Americans citizens used to have to raise and feed their families. When you support ILLEGAL aliens you are supporting those who are taking the jobs from men and women who are trying to raise and feed their families. That is a liberal position. Why are you determined to push that very liberal position in this conservative forum?

You really do lack the ability to comprehend. I did not call you a troll. I quoted the owner of this forum who called someone else a troll. Did you really not get that?

“At worst it is downright disingenuous”

You didn’t call me a liar?

What do you think the word “disingenuous” means?

You did not give me the benefit of the doubt. And, just so you know, I am not uninformed. I know what migrant workers are, and I know who illegals are.

I do NOT support illegals. When I think of illegals, I think of those who are coming here just to take advantage of the benefits without giving back to our society.

But, I do support migrant workers who are here for good reasons, who love this country, who want to grow the economy, and help themselves at the same time.

I guess that means I support those who came here illegally 30 years ago, and have proved themselves to be responsible by creating businesses and hiring people.

So.....shoot me.

Oh...I got it. I’ve been around this forum long enough to know that when one provides a link to a JR quote, it’s a threat.

BTW, anyone who would use a link to a JR post as a threat is too squishy for my taste.

So, I will bid you adieu.

You get nothing and that is your problem. You lack the fundamental ability to comprehend. I said "Defining them as ‘migrant’ is uninformed at best. At worst it is downright disingenuous." That is giving you the benefit of the doubt. I don't think you are lying...I think you are one of the most uninformed posters I have encountered in a long time.

I agree with JR that allowing ILLEGAL aliens to stay in the US is amnesty. You can't even discuss the issue w/o trying to insert the irrelevant and erroneous inclusion that 'citizenship' is somehow required for it to be amnesty. It is not. It's not even a consideration. It is no more complicated than this; Newt Gingrich wants to allow ILLEGAL aliens to stay in this country and he wants to give them LEGAL status. Whether you possess the ability to comprehend that simple fact or not that is amnesty.

I'm not to your taste? Good. I don't try to appeal to amnesty supporters.

Bye.

Girly man? lol! I'll take that as a compliment coming from an amnesty supporter.

And sorry to burst your bubble 'sport' but I was not attempting to get anyone banned. I didn't ping JR, she did.

I was simply using Jim's quote to show/prove that I am not the only one who sees Gingrich's proposal for what it is -- amnesty.

That may not settle well with the pro-ILLEGAL alien crowd but it is what it is; I agree with Jim.

Have a nice night.

Just because it has been done in the past and papered over as legal, like slavery, doesn’t mean it is right and should continue.
