This is outrageous!
The homeowner obviously needs more range time.

A story where the homeowner is unapologetic and there is no silly ass lecture from police.
For that we are truly thankful!

Most states don’t. In fact, as far as I know, only Texas permits use of deadly force to protect property. Other states require threat to the person using deadly force...

We're told the suspect has non life-threatening injuriesThe homeowner needs to use hollow-points or a larger caliber round. The perp deserved more than a minor wound.

He fired a weapon in the “general” direction of the perp and hit him in the “back”?
Shooting somebody in the back has never been “okay” and never should be! A 100 years ago they hung people in Texas for back shooting! You should never shoot in the “general direction” and only if there is a direct fear of bodily or worse harm. Shoot in the general direction today with the population around you is lunacy!
To: CowboyConservative
Agreed. It’s like “hunters” shooting at something they can’t quite identify in the brush. Great odds of bagging an innocent. Bad, bad idea.

Awesome!
This kind of “castle doctrine” law should be national.

That’s because many are from out of country.

This kind of castle doctrine law should be national. Castle doctrine laws are intended to replace the earlier common standard that required you to "withdraw" or "retreat" when under attack in your own home. I don't think they legalize deadly force in the defense of property. If the perp is quite thoroughly dead however, you can always say you "were in fear for your life" and who's to argue?

GtG
