DES MOINES — Having just taken his place at the front of the Republican presidential pack, Newt Gingrich now faces a potential backlash from conservative activists here in Iowa over an immigration proposal that he called “humane” but that his opponents quickly decried as providing “amnesty.”
The former House speaker appears to have alienated some of the conservatives who had warmed to his candidacy by saying Tuesday in a candidates debate that he would allow millions of illegal immigrants who have settled in the United States to become legal residents.

Yes that s correct as far as it goes. It does not mean however that a nation does not have the right to control its borders and allow in who they choose to for whatever reason it chooses to no matter you like it or not or whether you agree with it or not. To not allow non-citizens into its country to live as citizens does not mean that these folks are any less of men or women. They are our equals across controlled borders. Now that isn't hard to understand for the overwhelming majority of American citizens so why can't you get through your thick skull?!

I have observed and agree with the fact that there are three distinct lines here at F.R., on domestic issues, that a candidate is not allowed to cross. Gun control, abortion and amnesty for criminal aliens, not necessarily in that order. Newt has crossed the line every bit as much, if not more, than Perry did on amnesty.
He'd still be a whole lot better than Obama and I could vote for him in the general, if I had to. A statement that I could not make about Romney, since Romney crosses all three lines.
Maybe he wanted to be truthful instead of feeding us bullshit.

Newt on top so first thing I note in my local rag today, over the fold, AP story detailing his immigration stance and why he will not win.
Let’s assume there is not much difference between Newt and Romney on the issue of illegals. Which would we wish to see running against His Majesty. I would rather see Newt.
Face it, no matter which of the supposed conservatives running, the press will gin up enough chad to make it impossible to vote for our choice...they want His Majesty reelected.
In defensive tactics training, you are taught when facing multiple threats, to take out the biggest threat first, say the guy with the shot gun or automatic weapon over the guy with the knife if at equal distances from you. Same here, the biggest threst is O Turd. The second biggest is Romney.
