EL UNIVERSAL, (CARACAS, VENEZUELA) Original in Spanish "ESTADOS UNIDOS: Gingrich favorece políticas migratorias más humanas" ...
Candidato republicano se pronuncia a favor de la inmigración"
Wednesday November 23, 2011 24:08
("FREEPRANSLATION" TO ENGLISH): "Washington, D.C. - Newt Gingrich, the newest candidate in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, has run the risk of scaring the conservatives saying that favors the establishment of legal channels for illegal immigrants who have behaved peacefully, within the law paid their taxes and lived in the U.S. for many years. During a televised debate on Tuesday night, former House of Representatives Speaker said his break with the current thinking of his Party on illegal immigration and tried to capitalize recent gains in the polls, the AP reported. "I do not see how the Party that says it is the "Party of Families" will adopt an immigration policy that destroys families who have been here a quarter century,'' Gingrich said during the debate televised by CNN. "I am prepared to withstand attacks by saying that we are human in the application of the law,' 'he said. The other candidates immediately lambasted the statements and said that Gingrich supported what many in the party is an "amnesty''that would allow most or all immigrants who entered illegally stay in the country.
Many conservatives strongly oppose granting legal residency to illegal immigrants, especially from Mexico and Central America, under almost any circumstance. Mitt Romney (former governor of Massachusetts, venture capital investor and a favorite of the elites) was the one who attacked Gingrich. He argued that any path to legalization would be a magnet to make more if the to cross in illegally from Mexico.
The immigration issue has divided U.S. politicians for years. Many analysts say that Republicans run the risk of angering the rapidly growing Hispanic population, showing little sympathy for the millions of residents already in the country but with illegal status. The conservative Gingrich is near the top in the polls, but it is unclear whether he can stay there now. Beyond the questions about his divorce, extramarital affairs and business, his previous views on climate change and other issues could be seen as too moderate for some Republican conservatives." Please reread my post. Did I refer to YOU personally as a troll?
No discussion from me about Cain (which I am happy to do) until you honestly and clearly answer why “El Universal” is not a credible news source from South America. Which I still have not gotten in a succinct manner w/ supporting evidence. Thanks, but I’ll wait for that first. Orders are done in the order they are placed.
Bingo! I get involved with this all the time. Illegals using American kids' social security numbers. Social Security is very helpful when you report it. They say, "Don't worry. We'll just remove the earnings from the child's records". (Where do it go?) Sometimes I think it's just better to let the earnings stay in the child's account if it doesn't interfere with other benefits the child currently receives such as disability.
¿Pedidas o mandamientos?
;-)
But that's OK, still waiting why you think this paper "El Universal" is not a credible news outlet as you claimed, but you won't get back to me on it and try to go on to other topics. I will post from other news sources as well. Will they also be "not credible"? Some are going to shock you. I have one right now which is a bedrock daily Conservative UK news source which has a dynamite article on this Newt/Illegal Issue and its potential impact on the GOP race and the GOP base. But first, back to "El Universal". Your reasoning?
An den ol Newt smack dat illegal alien tar baby up side his haid.
Newt look round, an who dat? Perry stuck on other side of same tar baby!
Sho nuff! Dats what happen!
Pedidas. You might note my various “please”’s which I insert in the requests.
I don’t have a canned pitch for Cain but I’ll tell you what I like a lot about him. First, he was a CEO that delivered excellent results and did turn arounds. I used to do that myself before I retired, although on a smaller scale than Cain. I think it demonstrates a skill set congruent with that needed for true LEADERSHIP; and a TURNAROUND is exactly what this government needs. Someone who demands results and isn’t going to wimp around with political correctness to achieve them — Cain to a T. I’m in with a better man than me...
Of course that same skill set can mean you suck as a politician. And that job description is not Cain’s strong suit. Score another one for Cain, lol!
The left is terrified of him, to the point of trying to pull an Anita Hill style takedown. Instead of whimpering apologies about the unsubstantiated charges he stood up and denied them. And where were the other candidates as Gloria Effing Allred (sic) ripped into him with the media? Who stood up for him? Yeah. Allred or Cain, is that a tough call? Bah. Cajones points go to Cain.
He does have some major skills as a candidate however. Great booming speaking voice. Even a good singing voice. A sense of humor long lacking in politics. Compelling personal history.
I’m not excited about 999 and Cain is not flawless; none of them are. But I’ll sleep a lot better knowing he is at the helm and we aren’t suddenly going to jag off course to visit the Amnesty Islands.
That’s it. This isn’t an attempt to threadjack but since ya asked...
High noon here (Thursday) in Tokyo and time for lunch. Will be back to the thread shortly. ;-)
Great. I can hear them packing the bags now....
I am familiar with those aspects which you mentioned....and a few more that are equally positive. Mr. Cain is still on my list. However, I would like to know more about what he intends to do about the millions of illegal aliens already here. I am particularly focusing on those who have been here for 25 or more years as mentioned by Speaker Gingrich. I am willing to bet that the vast majority of these people would be horrendously affected in the negative if they were not allowed to remain here. Did they make a wrong choice? Yes, of course.....and they need to pay the consequences of committing that error. Speaker Gingrich made the point that they would NOT be given citizenship.....simply that they would be allowed to remain. I would assume that this would mean that they could begin the process of citizenship (in line behind all others who have done so legally)....and maybe pay some type of fine....BUT their families could remain intact! As a Christian, this IS important to me....as is the law.
This is a subject about which I would like to see a LOT more intelligent discussion. I want to support good families AND the law.
I also happen to believe that assimilation is a topic we rarely talk about when it comes to immigration. This must change. That includes the English language....and the correct and true history of this nation.
The only conservative is Bachmann
By the way...THANK you for not using any *canned pitch.* I much prefer your honest, sincere discussion....and sense of humor.
True...true.....points for you! ;-)
However, I have one pie out of the oven and have to finish a few things to get another IN that oven. There won’t be time tomorrow to do it.
Suffice to say that you need to remember the pressure being placed on ALL media in Venezuela by Chavez and his thug followers....and the conditions in which those people now live under this clown-dictator.
I DO wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving too.
in one word..NO
The man has never seen a covenant he can keep..
He also said "to death do us part" 2 times before the current covenant ... newt is not a reliable companion ..or candidate..
Ditto
Gingrich is a fraud. He would sell out his base in a heartbeat to get “comprehensive reform” (amnesty) done. He’s done it again and again in the past. Why does anyone here think he would change now?
Newt thinks he will win Democratic votes, but further media exposure will derail his chances. Forget Newton.
