Politics: The character assassination of GOP candidates by the MSM continues as CBS casts a jaundiced eye on the Texas governor's alleged "bizarre" speech in New Hampshire. Perhaps they prefer liberals drunk on power.
When Lincoln appointed Ulysses Grant as general of the Army in March 1864, the selection bypassed more than 200 senior generals. As the story goes, when one of the president's aides pointed out that he had picked a man who was well known for his alcohol consumption, Lincoln, mindful of Grant's battlefield accomplishments, is reported to have said, "Find out what brand he drinks and send a barrel to all our other generals."
We don't know how much truth there is to the story, which is as much about the motives of Grant's accusers as it is about winning wars under the influence. We wonder what the real motives are of those who have accused directly or indirectly Texas Gov. Rick Perry of imbibing before an uncharacteristically animated speech at Cornerstone Action's Annual Fundraising Dinner and Awards Gala in Manchester, N.H.
On CBS' "Face The Nation" program on Sunday, anchor Bob Schieffer described what he called a "wacky week" for GOP candidates including the sexual harassment allegations against businessman Herman Cain and what he called a "bizarre video of Rick Perry making a speech up in New Hampshire."
The "bizarre" video was a selectively edited YouTube version that ignored the totality of a speech well-received by an audience that gave it a standing ovation.
Schieffer ignored the substance of the speech, preferring to concentrate on Perry's perhaps awkward attempts at humor and some gratuitous slaps at the candidate's character.

He was drunk or high.
I guess people will excuse “their guy” for anything.
Maybe he is a medium, and suddenly channeled Howard Dean.

Listen to it and then tell me what Rick says is wrong?
You need comedian school in a bad way.
Go away bad clown.

Touch on the dated side, isn't it? Thanksgiving is tomorrow.
Hey, looking sharp Rick!
It sure ain't me, old sport... but your liberal believing attitude, wig and grease paint fits you to a tee!
Bender?
Now that’s funny..lol
You lie!
You're proof!
Come on..They’re were professionals who profile people’s facial expressions, demeanor, speech patterns, body lauguage etc, and even they thought or suspected Perry was high or had a few drinks. Even his speech went from barely audible to loud, in seconds.
You are as bad as the MSM!
You make it clear I can put knowledge before you yet I cannot make you think--
So, I bid you farewell and adieu as you are either a dedicated liberal troll or a lost cause with a closed mind, neither worthy of my time and effort to even reply to--
So have fun foaming at the mouth and screaming... at the silence
Perry had a really bad back and is undoubtedly on Vicodin or similar pain pills, not to mention probably not able to sleep. He had surgery on his spine only 4 months ago.
But so what? JFK had a similar rotten back.
I don’t really have a candidate at this point. I lean to Cain. (”Cain vs Unable” was my motto at that point)
And watching Felix's friend, Master Cylinder lecturing others is quite funny. You have the right to remain silent. To avoid appearing even more foolish, I advise you do so.
Bob Schieffer would not have much use for Perry because Bob’s younger Democrat brother, Tom, tried to run for governor against Perry in 2006, I think it was, and bowed out early for a lack of support.
On another occasion when someone was urging Lincoln to fire Grant, Lincoln replied, “I can’t spare this man. He fights.”
