It is not your mama, your daddy, or your pastor.
You may receive some or all of these things in the military, or you may not, but none of them are entitlements.

The military is there to protect the nation from violent harm.
From time to time it expands and contracts.

If you are in the military for a retirement, then you are in for the wrong reason.

What a quaint view? Are you serious? The military has been turned into everything that you listed plus some. It is now principally a social experiment for studying fornication of men/women, men/men, and women/women.

They ask you to stay..again and again..apply pressure...offer incentives..from the reenlistment NCO, Company Commander, Battalion to Brigade.

your opinions are exactly that....I did nothing wrong to be let go i have excellent evals or as you marines call it fitreps i was sailor of the year and my evals were top notch the reason I am out is because the they don’t want to pay for retirement so the you know whats can sit on capital hill and live continue to live with their millions.....also why not get rid off all those officers that are making us top heavy. Oh that’s right they are going to let them retire early at 15 years so they can keep the benefits why cant they do that for the enlisted with more that 15 years...explain that!!! and who are we protecting our nation or our leaders income. Not everybody let go did anything wrong. I have a blemish free records.
