Hmmm, not so sure about this. They may agree to call for a no fly zone but I cannot see these countries setting up a NFZ that hasn’t also been agreed on by the UN. And there is no way Russia/China will allow that to pass.

And there is no way Russia/China will allow that to pass.

Russia has a military (naval) base in Syria, so it has every reason to support "their SOB" in power. (After all, he is reasonably good at keeping the lid on Muslim extremism.) I don't think Russia will agree to stop flying over Syria, and any attack on a Russian airplane will be a direct attack on Russia. Medvedev and Putin are ready for this; but what about Obama?

Israel is probably also not all that enthused about having another "Arab Spring" on its borders. At very least you can deal with Assad. As every dictator, he has a target on his back, and he wants to live. This is not so with a nameless, faceless "revolutionary committee" who can send thousands of soldiers (or terrorists, if there is a difference) across the border and not fear any personal repercussions. Look at AQ, for example. Only a handful of top AQ bosses were killed; the rest are roaming free, and we probably don't even know who most of them are; "Mullah Achmed" is not a sufficient identification. Even the top Taliban boss, Mullah Omar, who is well known because of his political status before the war, is happily leading from behind for about ten years now.
