Three U.S. students have been arrested in Cairo for allegedly throwing firebombs at Egyptian security forces amid ongoing anti-government protests.
The Americans attend the American University in Cairo as exchange students. The school, which sits on Tahrir Square, the central protest site, confirmed the students' arrest.
National television showed video of the three, identified as Derrik Sweeney, from Georgetown University, Luke Gates, from Indiana University and Greg Porter, from Drexel University.
Kevin Sweeney, Derrick's father, told CBS Radio news that his son was being held in a courthouse in Cairo.

Get involved in foreign politics? Hopefully those brats spend many, many years deep in an Egyptian hole.
(And, no, I don't support the Egyptian government)

A little foreign training for what’s likely to happen here with the OWS types.

There was a short clip of these kids on FOX this morning. They looked terrified.
These fools will pay dearly for throwing those molotov cocktails in a foreign country.
How totally ignorant they are. College breeds idiots anymore.

I hope we got a better deal on the exchange than the Egyptians did.

Wasn't that the going amount for those idiots we bought back from North Korea and Iran?
And we wonder where the 500 million dollars that supposedly went to Solyndra really went.

FWIW, a bud of mine from a former life once had a little too much to drink in a Japanese bar. He was big, husky and thought he could take on an army of petite little Japanese in their cute little police cars.
Let's just say that he learned that small size wasn't necessarily an indication of small strength and small will.
He was quite fortunate as to how easy they went on him once he sobered up, showed some remorse and offered to pay for the damages he caused.

The Japanese police are utterly professional and watch the tackle at the end. Beautiful technique.

Not just anymore.
I was attending undergrad in DC when the 1991 Cinco de Mayo/Mount Pleasant Riot took place. My dorm roomie (who was a reservist not called up) and I had purchased surplus gasmasks earlier in the schoolyear for a "Liberate Kuwait/Attack Iraq" sendoff party for a couple of our friends who were called up and about to ship over.
As we're watching the riot unfold on TV, the two guys living in the room next to us came over asking if they could borrow the gasmasks (along with my aluminum softball bat) to go down and see the riot live/in-person.
We actually came VERY close to handing them over (along with a hearty "may God have mercy upon your soul") ... but decided we didn't want blood on our hands.
