Like I said, it was a negotiation...
neither side got everything they wanted.

I was surprised by the process.

They started out taxing me at $220K value.
I challenged that the “real” value based on comparables was $180K.
After three rounds of back-and-forth, we “settled” at $186K.

I think most folks just take the county’s word for it and do not challenge.

A new listing showed up in my neighborhood today,
not quite comparable to mine and priced at $162K.

When more taxpayer’s begin to catch on,
many county budgets will be devastated.

From your lips to G-ds ears! IMHO all level of government need about a 60% haircut.If tax rates go down like that they will have to shed in order to survive.
