Look who is calling the kettle black?

Herman Cain has enthusiastically embraced the Koch brothers, who have funded his campaign. According to Cain, “Just so I can clarify this for the media, this may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers’ brother from another mother; yes. I’m their brother from another mother! And proud of it!” Cain has been accused of violating campaign finance laws by accepting money from a nonprofit affiliated with the Koch brothers and Mark Block. Nonprofits are not allowed to spend money on presidential campaigns.[65]

2008 presidential election

In 2008, Cain initially praised Democratic candidate Barack Obama, saying of Obama that “His gift is the gift of oratory. That’s not just the ability to speak, but the ability to connect with people.” He also said that he would consider supporting Obama “under the right circumstances” but only if he made a serious attempt to “reach across the aisle”. Eventually, Cain instead endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican primary. [71]

Bank bailouts, and “too big to fail”

Cain supported the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bank bailouts as a way to revive the economy, viewing it as an investment opportunity for the taxpayers. In a 2008 editorial, Cain wrote, “Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem.”[1]

In May 2011, regarding his TARP support, Cain said, “I don’t have any regrets . . . I studied the situation. I didn’t have trouble with the idea; I had trouble with its implementation, picking winners and losers.”[2]

In October 2011, Cain said he does not believe in the concept of “too big to fail” and has stated that he did not agree with the bailouts of “JP Morgan and the big banks on Wall Street”.[3]

P-F, posting the truth about Herman Cain. Tsk-tsk-tsk! You’d probably point out the emperor’s nakedness if he strutted by!

Cainskeptimania is not permitted here, m’dear.

I have been acutely skeptical of him from the very first. (That would be the words, “Shucky ducky!!” whatever that means, and “Love YAWL!!”) When he put on those shades and announced his candidacy with that preamble, I saw a huckster, a vendor of shoddy goods; as wiki defines it, “a seller of small articles [like his experience in politics], who tricks others into buying cheap imitation products [like presidential Cain] and then bargains them as if they were the real thing [like a conservative].”

Sticking to the facts, quoting Cain verbatim, entreating people to go to links with their own ears and eyes, and heaven forbid preferring another candidate, is like trying to reason with a victim of ergotism.

Be patient and let nature run its course. Cain is a self-limiting candidate and the recovery rate should be 100%.
