Don’t most conservatives consider homosexuality to be a “lifestyle choice” anyway? So how can a “lifestyle choice” be a mental disease? Unless you are now claiming they are born with it? You can’t have it both ways.
People don’t choose to be bipolar. People don’t choose to be depressed or have a panic disorder or have schizophrenia. Those are mental diseases. If you are claiming that homosexuality is a mental disease, then you are also blow the claim that they are choosing to be gay.
Most conservatives who know anything about homosexuality know that most homosexuals do not consciously choose to be attracted to the same sex. Altough there is a subset of homosexuals who do indeed make the claim that they have indeed chosen to be homosexuals.
They do, however, choose to act on their sick and immoral destires, and they can choose to restrain themselves, and to seek help. Many have changed and are now “former homosexuals”.
Everyone has illicit or sick or immoral desires that they do not act on. That’s called being a sane and moral human being. People who use no self control over their desires are in that sense mentally ill and immoral. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I think conservatives have consistently maintained that homosexuality is a mental disease, and were unhappy when it was removed from that classification in the 1970s based on nothing but political pressure. Anyone really familiar with the homosexual “lifestyle” could arrive at no other conclusion that these are very sick people.

Sex addiction is a psychological disorder. Homosexuality is a psychological disorder. Pedophilia is a pyschological disorder.
Your reasoning is faulty. Are you actually saying that all mental disease is hereditary? And only those born with mental diseases have mental problems? So that anyone with post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) had to be born with it? How about mental diseases like kleptomania and with tardive dyskinesia?
Mental diseases have diverse causes. PTSD comes from experiencing a traumatizing event. Tardive dyskinesia is usually the side effect caused by taking certain medicines. Kleptomania, just like homosexuality has no known specific cause. The people just choose to steal. Just like homosexuals choose filthy deviance. Both groups say they can’t help themselves. Only the kleptomaniacs have more sense than to run around asking the world to create special laws for them and trying to force others to “tolerate” their deviancy.
Your use of the preface “don’t most conservatives” makes me believe you have no idea what a conservative thinks because you certainly aren’t one. Obviously logic and reasoning are not your strongest areas. You should abandon trying to play devil’s advocate. You may well be trying to work for his side but the devil probably would not appreciate your assistance.
