Bachmann Blasts Gingrich on Abortion

Read the extensive press release below.

Newt Gingrich Has Failed to Meet a Consistently Pro-Life Standard

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has failed to uphold a consistently pro-life stance throughout his career in public life. Gingrich has positioned himself as open to watering down the Republican Party’s commitment to the inalienable right to life and failed as the leader of the U.S. House of Representatives to stem the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, the largest U.S. provider of abortions.

(snip)

Under Newt Gingrich’s tenure as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives 1995-1999, the federal government channeled $587,073,070 to Planned Parenthood components – more than half a billion dollars – and his Republican-dominated House never voted to bar taxpayer funding to this largest U.S. abortion provider.

Total federal funding for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and affiliates, International Planned Parenthood Federation and associations, and the Alan Guttmacher Institute during FY1995 compared with the following four fiscal years budgeted under Gingrich’s speakership: PPFA's annual federal funding went from $120 million in FY1995, the fiscal year budgeted before Gingrich came to power, to $125.8 million in FY1999, the last fiscal year budget Gingrich negotiated with President Clinton. IPPF and Guttmacher taxpayer funding decreased, but funding for PPFA, the largest domestic abortion provider, remained fairly constant.

... The Freepanoia syndrome.

Don't use that broad of a brush on this. I've fallen into that false sense before. It is the VOCAL few. You're battling some of the "stars" on this thread. Your perseverance and resilience is admirable. A little crazy, but still admirable.

I don’t believe Newt’s rise is due to Cain’s fall in popularity. Rather it is because of Newt’s debate performances.

It's definitely about his debate performances. The defense that I would give to support my thesis is that Newt has had great debates from the get-go. However, he has ONLY moved up in the polls after the faltering of Bachmann, Perry and now Herman Cain. Last man standing.

Takes me back to the notion that really she's running for VP by running interference for The Mittster.

Has she ever criticized him about anything, like oh, say... Romneycare?

Maybe she has; I'm just axing.

>> CEW’s post #97 answers all of your “questions”. There is no PR cult of personality around Newt, manufactured or otherwise. He is simply a potential “last man standing” who can beat both Romney and then zer0, which is the objective. >>

Correct - and obvious to anyone with reading comprehension.
Correct - and perhaps an “anti cult” in fact.
Correct - and brilliant use of potential, making it more correct.
Correct - because if we don’t do that, nothing else matters.

On all four points. Thanks.

No rant, of any kind except in your mind, the numbers are the numbers. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2011/11/18/is_newt_peaking_too_soon_112119.html

You can't really be this dense. Or can you? You must really be a Newt plant designed to make him look good by acting like you are against him and making yourself look like a fool.

First, you say Newt had nothing more than a meaningless 8% bump that his supporters were making a mountain out of a molehill over. Then I point out that Real Clear Politics showed his rise from 4% to 21%, demolishing your point into bits of dust. Then you switch to Vegas odds. And now you direct me to a link at Real Clear Politics while saying "the numbers are the numbers". And what does the article say? I quote:

"Newt Gingrich is the latest GOP hopeful to experience a sudden surge in his polling numbers. The former speaker of the House is now leading or tied for the lead in the last three national surveys, and is rising fast in Iowa".

The article you cite completely agrees with me and also obliterates your supposed point that Newt has had only a meaningless 8% bump in the polls. In fact, it questions whether Newt has risen too far too fast! ROFL!

The article itself links to the exact poll numbers that I cited, showing Newt's rise in the polls from 4% to 21% since August.

I do thank you for re-enforcing me point. Do you often sabotage your own argument like this? Are you self-loathing? Kick yourself much?

Nah, I think I'm right - you have got to be a Newt plant designed to make his detractors look like embiciles with arguments as sturdy as wet newspaper. I gotta hand it to you, it's a brilliant strategy and carried out quite effectively! You have me convinced! LOL

Critique accepted, and you’re right. As for “a little crazy” - yes, you are right, a little crazy in that I am kind of like the detective Adrian Monk (TV show). He was OCD about things being in complete order. That was his gift and curse. That’s why he could solve crimes.

I am that way about linear arguments and logic. A curse? Yep, I can’t turn it off. But it’s also my strength. I engage in some of these food fights simply as a way to hone some skills and keep in touch with attitudes out there - and there is a method to my madness.

But yes, it is part madness.

>> TO MNJohnnie: Again, your questions were answered, and since you didn’t like the answers you act like a child. Nobody here is saying Newt is a saint, but if you need to build some strawmen to make that argument, you better get busy rounding up some more hay. >>

He really does argue like a child doesn’t he? And he creates more straw men than Obama. It’s like beating your head against a wall. Until I read his page, I really did think he was in middle school or high school and just starting to get interested in politics. I really did assume that, just based on his public postings.

Obviously you thought the same thing.

Glad to see the exact same

And as you have pointed out, they LOVE Herman Cain, who obviously is very fond of Newt. They seem to question how anyone could say anything nice about Newt...unless it's Herman Cain. If only a gullible, idol-worshipping idiot could say anything nice about Newt...how can you be in love with Cain? LOL

Oh, and didn't Cain write a piece endorsing Romney last time?! ROMNEY! YIKES! LOL

Different time. GOP RINOs rule that roost. I would change Reagan’s 11th Commandment to read “Thou shalt not speak ill of other conservatives”.

Now just stop it with that logic. Give the common sense a rest. There’s no place for that kind of reasoned perspective around here!!!

Actually, many people take Reagan out of context here. He always spoke ill of liberal Republicans in primaries and off years. His commandment was once the GOP had nominated their man or woman - that then thou shalt not speak ill. He went after Gerald Ford and the Rockefellers and others darned hard in other times.

So in that way, Reagan agrees with your sentiment.

“SHE is the actual “Grizzly Momma”..”

SHE is a backstabbing, CHEAP imitation of the actual Grizzly Momma...and has been since the ACTUAL Grizzly Momma got her re-elected, whereupon she declared HERSELF Queen of th TEA Party.
Michele Bachmann is an ambitious pol with a stilletto out for anyone who gets in her path. No more, no less.
She lied from the moment she entered this race and lies every time she is interviewed. Pay attention.

Yeah, that doesn’t fly with me. Being fine with a baby being murdered because they were conceived under horrible conditions makes no sense.

Thanks for letting me know though.
