I appreciate and understand your thoughts. I won’t lose sleep about him and in the past I largely just shrugged also. The Cain incident put me over the edge though. It blew me away how he let this caller go on and on absolutely ripping Cain based on the word of a ‘friend’ who told her about Cain. Not a single question from Howie. She was probably calling from either Mitt’s or Obama’s headquarters but Howie just jumped on board.
I didn’t hear the Cain call you mention, but it’s too bad he wouldn’t challenge such a blatantly political call. He seems very receptive when people call in claiming inside info, and I chuckle at that—hasn’t he been in radio long enough to know what’s going on?
As long as Howie still gets good ratings and earns money for WRKO, he will continue doing things the way he does. Howie’s contract is up in the fall of next year and he tried unsuccessfully to jump to WTKK 96.9 5 years ago (when WRKO
was able to match the contract offer, he was forced to stay;
thus his “prison term” will end in about a year). He may try to go to WTKK or Talk 1200 next year, but they may not offer him as much. RKO also may lowball him but he may be stuck with them if the others can’t do any better.
Didn’t hear the incident you mentioned.
