Barak: Iran less than a year away from producing nuclear weapon

Iran is less than a year away from being unstoppable in its goal of producing a nuclear weapon, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in an interview with CNN released on Saturday.

In an advance transcript of an interview to air on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" program on Sunday, Barak said Israel was focused on the prospect of a nuclear Iran and what "should and could be done about it on time."

"It's true that it won't take three years, probably three quarters before no one can do anything practically about it because the Iranians are gradually, deliberately entering into what I call a zone of immunity, by widening the redundancy of their plan, making it spread over many more sites with many more hidden elements," he said.

If it’s nuclear power, what’s the problem?

Sorry, but I just don’t “get” the fear-mongering that my fellow conservatives seem to buy in to. Are the Iranian leaders a bunch of good guys? Not at all, but besides their occasional empty threats, who have they attacked in the last 100 years?

Is it really worth the debt *and deaths* we’ll incur to go after some more “WMD’s”?

Probably within 6 months. Once again, the optimal window for a preemptive strike on Iranian nuke sites is between now and March 15th. The very best scenario has it happening by Jan. 15th. If it doesn’t happen by then, the chances of success fall fairly dramatically. It’s a matter of survival for Israel. Even the Arabians know that if Iran gets nukes, their existence is threatened. Obama and many in Europe think they can negotiate and/or sanction Iran into compliance. The time is long past for those tactics to work — and without the cooperation of Russia, China, North Korea, Turkey and Syria they could never work anyway. The Israeli’s are not discussing the topic of an attack on Iran now, because it’s no longer a matter of IF, but WHEN.

Sorry to say, but I think Iran will make it to the status of “Nuclear Power” and the world won’t do **** about it.

To repeat myself, again: Iran will get the bomb. If Iran has an ounce of sense, diabolically speaking, they will have a few of them before they detonate one.
