I would think the GOP ‘insiders’ are those working behind the scenes, for the GOP and the candidates. Bundlers, pollsters, staff, people with access to the leaders in the party.

The Pundits that write and talk about what is going on, go to these nameless insiders to get their information.

If you are known enough to party leadership, even at the local level, to call and talk to the candidates, those in Congress, elected state reps, etc, and get them to talk to you, you are an insider.
