"because the application was filled out properly and the $1,000 fee was paid"

How could we possibly ask for more?

Do you think they even scrutinize the application?
I bet they only make sure the $1,000 check was good.

The counsel for the election commission claimed the commission’s, by statute only had the jurisdiction to uphold the law and then cited one law, which was that a presidential candidate had to fill out a form and pay the fee. He ignored that a separate statute requires the candidates to declare under penalty of perjury that he is Constitutionally eligible for office. Orly, evidently had NOT cited that statute and was not prepared to make them uphold that part of the law as should have been required. The good part, I guess, is that she has grounds to sue this commission and she has legal standing since her specific objection was not legally satisified by the commission.
