None of us can pretend to know what motivates Sarah Palin to do what she does. Sure, theres money. And attention. And more money and attention. But todays Palin op-ed goes in a different direction. Palin moves away from the pure cultural populism that has defined her since her run for the vice presidency and back toward the reformist populism that characterized her time as governor of Alaska. She turns her resentment away from cultural elites and focuses it on political elites of both parties, arguing sensibly! that being elected to Congress admits one to a veritable merry-go-round of special interest wealth and influence-peddling. She proposes reforms and even gives a shout-out to both the tea party and Occupy Wall Street movements:
No more sweetheart land deals with campaign contributors. No gifts of IPO shares. No trading of stocks related to committee assignments. No earmarks where the congressman receives a direct benefit. No accepting campaign contributions while Congress is in session. No lobbyists as family members, and no transitioning into a lobbying career after leaving office. No more revolving door, ever.
This call for real reform must transcend political parties. The grass-roots movements of the right and the left should embrace this. The tea partys mission has always been opposition to waste and crony capitalism, and the Occupy protesters must realize that Washington politicians have been Occupying Wall Street long before anyone pitched a tent in Zuccotti Park."
Whats surprising about this: Palin really is going it alone here. Among the major Republican presidential candidates and party establishment, and even tea party activists, this type of economic and good government populism barely exists....

Rush brings this topic up more often then I care to admit, and the one thing he says when he does bring it up is he isn’t joking about it. Me, I said here on FR after 2008 that we had our last free POTUS election.
Time will tell.
You guys make me laugh. Hope springs eternal.
I think .22 rounds will be the new dollar bill.
Certainly not. I should pay to access pro-Palin propaganda?
That isn't how it works. SHE pays to convince ME.
Why dont you stop dragging your f-ing feet and stand with her?
So.. I should send her money? Buy her books? Throw dollars at her?
Why exactly? So she can pretend that she's some awesome game-changing
savior in a custom bus who will save us all? Sorry. Not me.
You buy into that sideshow scam. Not me.
Give it a rest. You know the answer to your silly position of “she’s a quitter”, just give it a rest. She is not running, so really, your stuff is so two months ago.
Go volunteer for Mitt or something..
The ONLY politician with a proven track record of busting corruption not on party lines. When they talk experience, they need to talk experience that matters!
She has it.
Yes she is. Running... away.
Make sure that it is Natural Apple Cider vinegar, two teaspons stirred into a full glass of water. Does wonders.
I see your tag line is to Budge and I join you in the lifted glass and kind thoughts for his life and comradship. Cheers.
Profound tag line! You nailed it.
You seem like a small boy, irritated and unable to leave a subject alone. Are you crying, or just throwing a fit?
Isn’t he Milt’s FreeRepublic campaign coordinator already?
You're talking about Newt, right? He quit right after being re-elected by his constituents in 1998.
I thought he sounded like a Democrat!
And to think I do not have any of those on hand. Now number 2 steel shot I have plenty.
Possibly, he must have really been hurt by Mrs. Palin, seems a bit like the broken-hearted.
DING! Winner. Spot-on. She's not running - nor should she at this point. She's already stated her family comes first and frankly who can blame her for that?
The reason GOOD, DECENT people don't run anymore is because of what the media in this country does to anyone who's not an established left-wing zealot/idealogue.
It'd be fun to watch her run just to see the media's collective head explode, but it's just about as much fun watching her drive them batty from the sidelines.
Don’t see her running for 2012. I think she’ll do what she did in 2010 and help elect conservatives for 2012. She earns a few kudos and IOUs and keeps herself active in the mix. I have no doubt her rolodex will be full next year.
If she endorses any candidates in my neck of the woods, I’ll be doing some volunteering and donating.
I wish her well and happiness. After all this crap, she still keeps fighting...I like that.
Trig rocks.
Frankly, at this point, I’m inclined to vote for her when the California primary comes up, whether she reconsiders or not. For the only reasons that really matter: I think she’s better than the declared field and I think she can win.
