Explaining last gaffe, Cain stumbles again

GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain committed another potentially damaging foreign policy gaffe on Friday, when he inferred that the Taliban posed a threat to the Libyan government.

Speaking at a press conference in Orlando, Cain was defending his performance in front of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s editorial board earlier this week, in which he searched for words and sat in awkward silence after being asked if he agreed with the Obama administration’s policy towards Libya.

“Do I agree with siding with the opposition? Do I agree with saying that Qadhafi should go? Do I agree that they now have a country where you've got Taliban and Al Qaeda that's going to be part of the government?” Cain asked reporters. “Do I agree with not knowing the government was going to — which part was he asking me about? I was trying to get him to be specific and he wouldn't be specific.”

The Taliban is an Islamist militant group based in Afghanistan and Pakistan, while Libya is in northern Africa.

It’s the latest in a series of foreign policy stumbles for the candidate.

In October, Cain said it wasn’t important to know who was “the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-stan.” And in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel interview, Cain said he couldn’t recall Obama’s position on Libya because he had “all of this stuff twirling around in my head.”

Cain has responded to the criticism by saying he would surround himself with worthwhile advisers to help him out with foreign policy, and that voters didn’t expect him to know everything because “we need a leader, not a reader.”

So you're smarter than Cain, keyboard genius? Prove it. Put up your resume. Show us how much smarter you are than idiot Cain. I'd like to match your resume to his, I'm sure yours is much more impressive given that he is an idiot in your book.

Put up or shut up keyboard punk

Oh my, funny how we haven’t heard one good thing about Herman Cain since he led the polls.

Good heavens, why the man can hardly tie his shoes. /sarc

“but thank God the voters are aware of the bias.”

I sure hope they are.

Where are Cain’s handlers?

Out having a smoke.

Where are Cain’s tutors?

Probably still working for Pillsbury.

The “Taliban” comment wasn’t a mistake. Maybe you should actually read NATO’s report of the ground situation.

Cain should make this his campaign song for his detractors:

Come on now... I did you throw you all a bone. I indicated there wasn’t a lot of there there with this gaffe...

Actually - unbeknownst to me - whe went the same University. Wonder how that reflect on my old alma mater? His field of study was even relatively in the same neck of the wood with mine. I’ll give him credit. He did get his Masters. I haven’t found the motivation yet.

LOL... Nope, I don’t think I will.

The Cain folks make me laugh with their constant excuses for even the tiniest of things. If Cain farted in a room, his supporters would either take credit for the fart.... or argue that although it might indeed be a fart, it did smell like lilac and it was the sign and scent of a true leader.

As I had already indicated, this was not a big deal. I hate the media as much as anyone does. I hate the nitpicking of each of our candidates.

Great post.
It's one thing to support another candidate but it seems we have a group of Sheeple Freepers who are obsessed with jumping on every Herman Cain thread to regurgitate the mantra of the media and elitist GOP establishment.
Cain is a guy who against all odds became a self made American success story and now has reached the top tier of the GOP Presidential race by the virtue of a bare bones grassroots campaign. Most Conservatives should at least respect that whether they support him or not. Each of the GOP candidates have legitimate issues that some of us may disagree with, but I don't think many of us are in a position to question their intelligence.

I’m sure the bozos at the Journal have no idea of the role that Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai played in his recent meeting with French President Sarkozy, or how Rai calmed the volatile Lebanese situation between the Shiites and Sunnis concerning the UN’s STL.

Concoct a 700-word essay on that, you 30 IQ journalist frauds. You have three seconds - Go!

Damn gotcha fraudsters.

I get a kick how one of our former Git-mo prisoners captured in Pakistan (and fought in Afghanistan) was/is one of the leaders in the Libyan revolution. I guess those 6 years in Gitmo didn’t rehabilitate him from his Islamic power-hungry ways.
