Herman Cain, who's security team manhandled multiple reporters recently, became the first GOP candidate to receive Secret Service protection in this election cycle--and Cain's spokesman, J.D. Gordon said skirmishes with journalists prompted the decision, The Washington Post reported. "Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said Thursday night that the campaign asked for the protection after The Washington Post posted an article online that morning detailing a series of physical skirmishes involving journalists at Cain rallies."

The ABC report I just heard is at odds with the Atlantic article.
Gee, why would I raise questions about the disparity?
Why would you not realize that such decisions aren’t made in one day? The grating of protection to Cain is the culmination of a process.
Well, that’s one way to avoid having to answer tough questions.
I am sure it probably is.
When political candidates are afraid of the First Amendment (i.e. the media), they don’t belong in the race.
True. Facts never need get in the way of the agenda.
You might want to read the 13th Amendment...Bless your heart.
In essence it appears there is the implication that our liberal press has the ability to incite violence. If true, that is a sad state of affairs.
We shall see, but SS is government, and it’s government by the Leftists control, and as I said last nights thread benevolence of the Leftists currently in power. No action seemingly as benevolence by them comes without strings attached.
I do believe in accepting the benevolence of DHS in the form of SS protection Mr. Cain compromised himself, and his campaign. He should have remained with private security IMO.
As I said, we shall see, but I do believe he just accepted help from a source that will expect him to play the game the rules they want him to play by.
I presume that they were joking, badly. The Secret Service doesn’t protect candidates from pointed questions by the media.
IT’s clear he received real threats. His campaign claiming he needed secret service protection from reporters is a stupid, shoot-yourself-in-the-foot move, one that they are rather known for of course.
My guess is this is the campaign trying to make a joke, badly. Although I see at least one Cain supporter actually saying this is both serious AND rational. But that’s not Cain’s fault he attracts that kind of supporter.
Still pushing your false racism charges, I see.
I love these threads. The Cain campaign staff says something stupid. The Cain supporters are confused as to how to respond.
Some ignore what was said, and point out the reality (real death threats).
Some defend what was said, and claim it makes sense.
Some will say they were joking (not on this thread yet though).
Some will call their opponents racists.
And some will attack Rick Perry.
You do realize that “The fact that this process takes a while does not fit the story line.” is really a debunking of the story posted here, that the SS protection is the result of complaints filed by the campaign about journalists this week.
Clearly that’s not why he’s getting protection. It is because of serious threats. Why any Cain supporter would now want to pretend it isn’t death threats but a fear of journalists is beyond me. DO you really think that the headline “Cain needs protection from Journalists” works out well for him beyond his most loyal supporters?
The msm is scared of him. Big time scared.
