This week PBS Nature had a show about a person who raised a flock of wild turkeys from incubating the eggs onward. At the end only one of the male turkeys was left in the area and he considered it his "turkey brother". The only problem is that when mating season arrives the males (even brothers) will fight for dominance and the turkey went after the man. He first pecked him (and drew blood) and then made a full bore attack by jumping on his back and head with his claws. The man finally had to pick up a nearby stick and hit the turkey hard enough to stun him and then chase him off. Turkeys aren't nice friendly birds.
PBS never told what happened afterward with the mating season since the naturalist had asserted his dominance over the flock and thus had the right to mate with the nearby hens.
