Gingrich is a RINO. He changes with the wind just like Romney and Perry. I don’t believe any word that comes from any politician’s mouth. Contemporaneous words are useless when you’re trying to ferret out a worthwhile candidate. Look at what they have done and said in the past, ignore what they say to get elected. Gingrich sounds like Reagan now, but Reagan would never have “consulted” with a federal agency that he didn’t think should even exist. Or do you think that it’s the government’s business to lend people money to buy a house?
“Or do you think that its the governments business to lend people money to buy a house?”
As I understand it he advised them of exactly that. That is was a stupid idea and they should not go in that direction. They didn’t take his advice... Sounds like he was right.
You say: “Or do you think that its the governments business to lend people money to buy a house?”
*************
The media says so - what you’re implicating re Newt and F&F - so it must be so. Especially if it fits our agenda?
Newt had a Consulting Firm. He was hired to look at F&F’s business plane to help poor people afford homes. Until he looked at their plans, he had no idea what they were.
He did NOT lobby for them...He had written in his own rules of his business that no one - not he or any employees, could engage in lobbying.
Once he understood what a convoluted mess F&F’s plans were, he gave them his advice, which is what they were paying him for.
He told them they were crazy, it wouldn’t never work, it was insane - and he slammed Barny F...
That information is out there to, but it doesn’t fit the agenda of the media/RAts and supporters of other candidates, so let’s just skip over it, eh?
excerpts:
Gingrich has been sharply critical of housing industry loan practices and Democrats who he said created the environment for the meltdown. In an Oct. 11 Republican presidential debate, Gingrich said, You ought to start with Barney Frank, the Massachusetts congressman who serves as the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, when talking about people to put in jail.
Look at the Lobbyists
Go back and look at the lobbyists he was close to at Freddie Mac, Gingrich said in the debate, sponsored by Bloomberg News and the Washington Post. “
I offered them advice on precisely what they didnt do, he said. My advice as a historian, when they walked in and said to me, We are now making loans to people who have no credit history and have no record of paying back anything, but thats what the government wants us to do. As I said to them at the time, this is a bubble. This is insane. This is impossible.”
