Ron Paul says that Republicans will be punished if they do not hold the line against tax increases in the super-committee negotiations and argued that his campaign was well situated to challenge Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination in a radio interview with Sean Hannity Thursday.
"If we capitulate, they will punish the Republican Party," Paul said in response to questions about proposed tax increases. He also said that Republicans needed to be thinking more dramatically about reducing the federal deficit.
"Even if they cut a trillion dollars over the next couple of years from the baseline budget it doesn't mean anything," Paul said.

So that’s why Ron Paul signed the letter with several other Republican RINOs calling for tax hikes?
Let me guess, just like earmarks, he will be instrumental in putting them in but then vote against it to keep his band of merry little tards happy?
Even here in NJ we cut without raising taxes.
"Even if they cut a trillion dollars over the next couple of years from the baseline budget it doesn't mean anything," Paul said.Sometimes you feel like a nut, just not in office.
“And no damn ear marks.”
Well, you better keep RuPaul in a galaxy far, far, away from this. Ron Paul just loves him some earmarks! In 2009, he brought home more pork to his district than Nazi Pelosi, Pete Starke Naked, Henry “The Nostril” Waxman, and Bawney Fwank, the Banking Queen.
Cut and Run Paul is just another Congress Critter, worthy of only scorn, ridicule, and frowns.
“Let me guess, just like earmarks, he will be instrumental in putting them in but then vote against it to keep his band of merry little tards happy?”
Well, it has kept the Paultards happy during their fuhrer’s 50 gazillion years in Congress. (Geez, doesn’t he believe in term lmits ?)
Nice catch!
That was my exact thought when I read this.
Damn, I just hate admitting when Ron Paul is right.
BUT I STILL WOULDN’T VOTE FOR HIM!!!
The GOP will go the way of the Whigs if it doesn’t represent its base.
Ron Paul is absolutely correct.
It is hard to imagine that the Republicans would agree to tax hikes (any at all would be suicidal) even as they bend over and, by default, take the blame for cuts in medicare, social security, education, etc.
Talk about a lose-lose situation!
The scumbag Democrats are home free no matter what comes out of this laughingstock Super Committee. This is one of the most baffling exercises in political self-immolation by Republicans I have ever witnessed.
/headshaking disbelief
I’m sure the haters will find reason to trash Paul over this.

lots there
For one thing, Gingrich pioneered a denial of adultery that some observers would later christen
“the Newt Defense”: Oral sex doesn’t count. In a revealing psychological portrait of the “inner”
Gingrich that appeared in Vanity Fair (September 1995), Gail Sheehy uncovered a woman, Anne Manning,
who had an affair in Washington in 1977 with a married Gingrich.
“We had oral sex,” Manning revealed. “He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say,
‘I never slept with her.’” She added that Gingrich threatened her: “If you ever tell anybody about this,
I’ll say you’re lying.”
Spell his name wrong. Change the subject to something irrelvant.
Up to 19 or 20 in Iowa. Getting 30%+ of the 18-29s
Rush says it is the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms who continue to mischaracterize what the Republicans want when they talk about increased revenues. I'm not sure I'm buying, but it's up to the Republicans to reassure people and explain precisely what they mean by "revenues".
Tax hikes would be party suicide and they all know it.
That what it ‘could’ be in the theoretical sense, but that letter was drafted by a Democrat who is pushing for tax increases and doesn’t say at all anything about raising revenues by cutting taxes. A majority of the signers are those who are calling for increases in taxes.
I see you enlarged Ron’s ear...
During his 1978 congressional campaign, Ron Paul was locked in a tough primary battle, and his noninterventionist foreign policy came under attack from Republican rivals trying to paint him as weak on defense. Ron had been one of only four congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan in 1976 and had led the Texas delegation for Reagan at the 1976 Republican convention, so when he needed some help, Reagan was happy to reciprocate with this endorsement:
Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country.
Ronald Reagan
