I see it as Newt is the one guy the Dems have decided they really want as the GOP nominee.

They want to rough him up enough to remind conservatives how much he has disgusted them at various times over the years, but not so much that his path to the nomination is destroyed.

Newt and willard in a sack together when they fell out they would be hugging each other and have interchangeable parts. Both of them love the individual mandate and big government. No, not voting for either.

Newt stands on his own merits. The comparison to Nixon is facile but inaccurate. Nixon was a robust Cold Warrior but no conventional conservative as the term has come to be known.

Gingrich was never as "angry" as the demogogues played him out to be. You have to bear in mind, "angry" is an epithet used by the Lefwingers to disparage normal people who are indignant at what they see being done to the country.
