I was on the Coral Sea for a while. We had a guy called the ‘mad-sh*tter aboard. He would leave turds all over the ship in the weirdest places.
He must have hit the Captain’s area on day. The Captain came on the 1MC for about 15 screaming mad yelling at the guy. As far I know they never caught him, but if they had, the Captain would have keelhauled him. lol
You never knew when the 1MC was going to be a source of amusement. We had a seaman announce, “Dickie Byrd departing” one day instead of Richard E. Byrd.. The captain was not amused. The next announcement almost immediately was “Arriving.”
We had a guy at high school like that-—called him the Phantom Pooper!
