Yes, Newt would be a perfect candidate for the Dems. Because they can label him as an extreme conservative in order to stir up the middle and the left, while letting all of his numerous RINO activities come out to discourage the conservatives.

And they don’t even need to invent sex scandals. There are plenty of them—enough to make many of Southern Evangelicals stay home and refrain from voting. Especially if they are also reminded of Newt’s support for “a woman’s right to choose,” i.e., abortion.

Newt is probably the weakest candidate out there.

As I said, it would be like the Dems nominating Nancy Pelosi as their candidate 20 years from now and expecting Repubs/Tea Party to not remember what she was like during the Obama administration.

In this case, the Dems may be banking on the fact that their voters who were there during the Clinton administration will still be highly, highly anti-Gingrich.

And, yes, there is a lot of REAL stuff to deal with. Is it insurmountable? No. We could plow through, I expect. But acting as though it doesn't exist so long as it's not posted on FR is not a method.

(While reviewing Newt's record, remember these, one recent, one from 1994? Gingrich's Libya answer (compared to Cain's?) and that cringeworthy little sex kitten thing. A veritable walk down Memory Lane! Ugh.)
