Since leaving office in 1999, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has spent much of his time convincing conservatives to support government subsidies for large corporations, reports the Washington Examiner.
In addition to his work as a strategic consultant for government-sponsored mortgage lender Freddie Mac, the Examiner reports that tax filings show Gingrich received money from the ethanol lobby.
Green Energy, a lobbying group that works to secure and create government subsidies for the much-criticized ethanol industry, paid the Gingrich Group more than $300,000 as recently as 2009. Unlike most conservative experts on the industry, Gingrich is a staunch advocate of ethanol, an expensive corn-based alternative fuel opposed by many conservatives due to its price tag and incompatibility at high concentrations with some modern automobile engines.

Every writer of every political "analysis" should be made to reveal their candidate at the top of every piece. That would cause them to be a tad more evenhanded, truthful and fair in their examination of the facts.
But then I don't care if Newt was paid to promote an issue he has promoted for years and I don't care if he consulted or lobbied or went on vacation or had a charge account at Tiffany.
Very convincing.
Grrrr, I knew that.
Thanks!
Go read my posting history, I have no interest in further conversation with you.
Doubt you'll be here much longer anyway...at least under your present screen name.
I find neither of them acceptable, and the chances of either of them winning the general election is Zip.
>> “So, your agend then is destroy all of the other candidates...” <<
.
C’mon Ron, Timber Rattler isn’t “destroying” anyone; he has posted undisputed facts.
The GOP’s big two just happen to be totally unacceptable, and that fact needs to be accepted by the infatuation club here.
Perhaps you don’t remember the 94 election and the contract w America.
What’s most unacceptable is a second Obama term. Who’s your choice to prevent that?
That is the fine line between Newt and Romney, and why I would vote for Newt, while I would never vote for Romney. At least Newt has done something good.
The strongest choice remains Cain.
Palin would have been significantly better, but if wishes were horses...

I remember it all too well.
GOP candidates were polling strong across the board until the leadership cooked up that piece of theatric crap. It almost cost us the election in lots of districts.
No matter in the end though, Newt squandered our majority by blocking the real conservative initiatives, and also ended up restoring Clinton’s strength.
All this 1% stuff is to set the stage to go after Romney once the Dems are through making sure he is selected.
Cain’s had a rough week. Hope he can recover.
Of course he cashed in. He’s still part of the DC Hack Class.
And that’s what most of them all do on both sides.
They cash in, we cash out.
You got it backwards, it’s the RINO DC Hack class that loves the toad.
Well said and accurate. Gingrich drank the ethanol kool-aid. We can easily straighten him out on that issue. There are a gazillion numbers proving ethanol is a huge drain on the economy, destroys machinery, causes food shortages, and is a big 'effin scam.

However, we have to get Gingrich has to get off his ethanol kick.
I read the article carefully and didn’t see any conclusions reached by the author.
So you seem to be disagreeing with what you assume the author was implying as the interpretation of the facts otherwise accurately stated.
Whew.
IOW, a simple difference of opinion.
Which is not a “hit piece.”
But let’s not keep having this discussion. My point has been made.
