McQueary faced one of those moments that defines character, which is am I going to do the right thing or the right thing for me. He came up short.

I wouldn’t expect him to run out under fire and grab a wounded comrade, that’s for sure.

Or dive into the river for the drowning kid.

Exactly. There is no excusing the fact that he slinked away from the scene of the crime. From photos he looks to be a strapping fellow. Chances are he could have held his own against Sandusky if it came to that. For crying out loud, we have 5ft women on this forum saying they would have lit into the man.

Even if he felt totally incapable of confronting the perpetrator, the next best thing would have been to run to get help and immediately report it for what it apparently was (if his testimony is correct): a rape in progress.

As for tellng his father later, would you or I wait for hours before mentioning a rape - not to the police but to a family member - of a woman that we stumbled upon? Something doesn’t smell quite right here...

This reveals how morally-weak we are as a nation that we no longer have the will to confront evil, thinking only of our own interests.
