Agreed, and even if you don’t know it by name, you should know of it. Hell I’ve never heard that term, but I have known that once the Cuban reaches the beach, he’s safe from deportation.

If he’d had any prep at all he should have known, and even if he didn’t know it by name, he could have asked for elaboration. I don’t have a problem not knowing a rote memorization fact at all times, but to call a cuba foreign policy question while in Florida (and a softball one at that) as a gotcha, is yet MORE proof this guys not remotely ready for the national spotlight.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, like it or not, the republican primaries boil down to Romney and Not Romney.. and whoever is the last not romney standing will likely win the nomination. If what the press call “tea party” voters keep latching onto neophites and proping them up and actually do wind up getting one of them through as the Candidate they send the party down in flames in 2012.

Like it or not, there are 2 candidates in this race with any shot of winning the general election, of the pathetic field that it is. One is Romney, who I dispise, and have no love or support for at all, and find it disgraceful that this guys even on the ballot as an R. The other is Newt. New is not perfect, but he sure is a hell of a lot better in my mind than Romney.

I’d love to see some true experienced Reagan like candidate enter the fray, but like it or not, there isn’t one in this field, and isn’t going to be.

Tea Party bloc makes itself bound and determined to keep projecting onto second and third teir candidates qualities they want them to have, but just aren’t there, and by some chance get one of them through, the Presidential election is over before the confetti hits the floor of the convention hall, and Republicans will lose.

We can’t do what the Dems did in 08, we can’t put up a nobody with no real ability other than reading teleprompters.. The press isn’t going to carry water for our guy, he’s going to be attacked mercilessly at all times for all sorts of things.. His little mistakes will be reported as huge problems, they won’t look the other way. You only survive that if you put up someone who’s truly got the gravitas and ability to handle it... not pumped up faux gravitas involved fake columns and meaningless catch phrases and campaign slogans, but truly knows what they are talking about and able to talk about it as an adult and seriously.

That leaves you with Romney and Newt, Santorum possibly, but he’s not remotely the intellect of Newt, nor the likability of Romney (and I mean that in the general election sense, not the primary). He’s not gotten anywhere, and I honestly don’t think he will or should, but I guess if Newt collapses, which is always possible, but provided he keeps his temper I doubt it will, maybe they go there, and he winds up the non-romney candidate. Not sure he can win, but he’s definitely a step up from the Bachmann, Perry and Cain’s of the world.

Obviously anything can happen in politics, but way I see it stacking up, its Romney V Newt, with Newt getting the nod, and LORD do I look forward to those debates if Newt is the candidate.

Then, when he asks for elaboration, as you think Mr. Cain should have, the media would be running that sound bite over and over and over again.

It’s a no win situation.
