Newt himself has called that the fallacy of the extreme choice. I don't know of a whole lot of folks on the anti-illegal side who suggest that is practical. What is practical is to make it more and more difficult to live here as in illegal. He's right about big penalties for hiring illegals (although you need an AG who will enforce the laws). The laws in AZ and AL are a good example. I would pass a law that any employer who has illegals working for them would have a 10K fine per illegal for the first offense, and have their business seized on the second offense. Ditto landlords who rent to illegals. Employers who use everify would be exempt if the illegal was approved. Colleges should have to use everify as well, or lose all Federal funding. Finally, eliminate the "day labor" exemption for contractors, and require all day labor to be hired through agencies that will be required to do everify checks.
Laws like that would lead to the majority of illegals self deporting.
Thank you for that post. You get it.
Yes - a lot would return to Mexico. All the liberal draws to begin the dependency push of illegals into the LIBERAL voting block keeps bearing fruit. It MUST stop!
Re E-Verify. It puts a terrible burden on small businesses. It is highly unreliable and has caught people who were legal and missed many who are illegal. It is a bandaid NOT the solution. There have been TOO many “fixes” and laws that are not enforced or don’t work.
So what you propose are exactly what we did all over the country before the early 1960’s and the federal government “took over” and destroyed this type of enforcement.
I’d say 80-90% of the crap we have to deal with today are from stupid things the feds have done since 1964 on so can be changed.
For example, most of the cabinet departments were created in the 70’s like Education and Energy and have failed in their mission and need to be destroyed.
