And finally Weber the black Labrador cross has been reunited with her loving new owners, 4,000 miles from his old home.

Paul Booth, 43, and wife Lorraine, 36, rescued the dog after spotting her wandering across a beach in Antigua as it hunted for scraps.

“Beautiful story. Wonderful people. It’s magical when you meet a dog whose soul ‘clicks’ with you. They look at you and ‘belong’. My first Sheltie was like that. Instant connection- we KNEW each other. He was mine from the moment I saw him and we both knew it.”

I had a similar experience when I met a stray Australian Shepherd that my sister had found and was trying to find a home for. I sat on the floor to greet him for the first time. He came over and just leaned against me. He was quite the love sponge. George was the perfect ambassador for that breed, and I’ve never owned any other breed since.

The rescue I volunteer for has received several homeless German Shepherds from Hong Kong, including three earlier this year. The persons who have been saving them paid for their cost, which included feeding, boarding (for six months), and air fare.
