WASHINGTON With growing signs that Hispanic voters are turned off to GOP positions on immigration, Sen. Marco Rubio is trying to use his national profile to deliver a message to his party: Tone it down.
"The Republican Party should not be labeled as the anti-illegal immigration party. Republicans need to be the pro-legal immigration party," the Florida lawmaker said Monday on Fox News.

“You’re talking about somebody’s mothers and grandmothers and brothers and sisters,” Rubio, the 40-year-old son of Cuban immigrants, said in Dallas.
Or, “Let’s not be heartless ...” He’s preaching to the choir in Texas.

.
Is it to become pro-illegal?
If so, the illegals have won and the country is no longer ours.
PRO LEGAL IMMIGRATION
ANTI ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
According to these polls, immigration is far down the list of major concerns for voters.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m highy against illegal immigration but, we have an election to win and we must concentrate on the major issues.
If we get off message and in the process, make whole sections of the electorate mad, we will lose this coming election.
And the Ref throws the bull sh!t flag!
He's talking about "framing the narrative" in a more positive way. Pro-legal immigration plays better than anti-illegal immigration -- just as conservatives steal the thunder from the libs using the phrase pro-life instead of letting themselves be labeled as anti-choice. It's PR101.
Oh ok... hey everybody lets just shut up about everything these frauds, yes Rubio is a fraud too, do want us to talk about. To hell with the constitution and rule of law its about the votes and money....and cheap labor.
If you want to stop poverty stop importing it. Maybe we should make this a fair trade issue and tax it.
THose district still need vetted/legal politicians to run for office.
Are you saying some *Hispanic* politician might vote against your concerns?
Illegal aliens are not supposed to be part of the electorate.
If they are, the country is over anyway.
Maybe he can console himself and tell us again about his parents being driven out by Castro.
Knew this was coming. Is there no one?
Sell out.
another rino.
Maybe Freepers and Tea Partiers are the RINO’s. New Party is needed or CWII. Take your pick I am good either way.
Then he should change “The Republican Party” to Conservatives”.
The mainstream GOP is on record as being in favor of not only legal immigration but illegal “immigration”.
I suppose we could go to lower case: gthoomc!
And the PR argument is a little silly: maybe when we start talking about deporting large numbers of illegals (I’m sorry, “undocumented immigrants”) we should start calling ourselves `Americans” and anyone who disagrees with us on this issue as “American’ts”?
You didn’t answer my question.
it was revealing how many on this forum drank gloria allred’s kool aid.
This is to make Perry more palatable. We saw how he nosedived when he started his pandering to illegals and the “heartless” remark.
So I guess the issue is more important than a poll would have us believe.
This is a ploy to use Rubio, who I already knew was soft on illegals, to prop up Perry.
I think you’re calling me a racist and didn’t bother to think about whether to answer, Benedict.
Seems like Pissant used to warn about Rubio’s stance on illegals. I mostly haven’t paid much attention myself.
