The commercialism of the name Jesus is akin to profaning (making common rather than sacred) the name of my Lord. In my view it is a blasphemy and violation of the thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain. But then I also wonder if the Lords day is not also profaned by football; when is should be set aside for worship and fellowship of the body. Practice as you wish, but that view isn't too far off from Muslims freaking out when Mohammed is portrayed as a cartoon.
And without the "commercialism" of Jesus, it would be mighty hard to buy a Bible.

"...that view isn't too far off from Muslims freaking out when Mohammed is portrayed as a cartoon. " I am not calling for violence or state interference, rather I am calling those who call themselves Christian to act according to their Lord's revealed will. Christians would so well to "freak out" every time they hear a movie blaspheme, or a coworker use our Lord's name or unique attributes in a manner unfitting for His glory; it has to do with worship and reverence. If Christians won't revere and sanctify the name of the Lord, we have become the world and the light is not in us.
