STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Reuters) - The lawyer for the Penn State football coach charged with child sex abuse said in an interview on Monday the boy at the center of a 2002 incident detailed in the grand jury's report had been identified and said it never happened.
Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was arrested more than a week ago on charges he sexually abused eight young boys over a 15-year period.
Speaking to sportscaster Bob Costas, Joe Amendola, who represents Sandusky, said "we anticipate we're going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, 'This never happened.'"
Sandusky, in a telephone interview with Costas that aired at the same time, acknowledged he had horsed around and showered with children involved in the Second Mile charity he founded.
But he denied he was a pedophile.

Which was wrong and He should have gone to jail. Juries can have wrong verdicts.
Sandusky on the other hand is a trained youth counselor who had to sign a form stating that he has read the the law. It will be very tough for him to get out on that one.
“Michael Jackson pretty much admitted the same thing, and he walked.”

was found guilty in January 2002 of indecent assault and battery for grabbing the buttocks of a 10-year-old boy in a swimming pool at the Waltham Boys and Girls Club in 1991, and was sentenced to nine to ten years in prison.
Thank God for Conrad Murray, how many children did he end up saving?

Who knows? But according to HiTech RedNeck, we have no right to comment on that case and the jury has spoken.
Over a 30-year career in six parishes, Geoghan was accused of sexual abuse involving more than 130 children.[2] Charges were brought in in Cambridge, Massachusetts concerning accusations of molestation that took place in 1991. Geoghan was defrocked in 1998. He was found guilty in January 2002 of indecent assault and battery for grabbing the buttocks of a 10-year-old boy in a swimming pool at the Waltham Boys and Girls Club in 1991, and was sentenced to nine to ten years in prison.
After initially agreeing to, and pulling out of, a $30 million settlement with 86 of Geoghan’s victims, the Boston archdiocese settled for $10 million and is still negotiating with other victims. The most recent settlement proposed is $65 million for 542 victims. The settlements are being made because of evidence that the archdiocese had transferred Geoghan from parish to parish despite warnings of his behavior. As a result of allegations against Geoghan, evidence arose that the archdiocese displayed a pattern of shipping other priests to new parishes when allegations of sexual abuse were made.
Two other cases were charged against Geoghan in Boston’s Suffolk County. One case was dropped without prejudice when the victim decided not to testify. In the second case, two rape charges were dismissed by a judge after hotly contested arguments because the statute of limitations had run out.[3] The Commonwealth’s appeal of that ruling was active at the time of Geoghan’s death, and remaining charges of indecent assault in that case were still pending at that time.
“Lets see a court do it. Many people will be amazed that even trash talk about yourself outside a court will not necessarily convict you in a court.”
No, I understand this full well. Which is why there are only two verdicts in this country, guilty or not guilty.
I don’t need to wait around for a verdict in this case. This man is sick. He likes to shower and play with naked little boys. He has admitted to this. His victims have stated he also has performed sex on them.
I don’t need to hear a jury’s verdict.
I was responding to another poster’s statements, maybe if you go back and read them you will understand my point.
You might find the Grand Jury Presentments an interesting read, especially in light of the disinformation and outrigh lies coming from a few apologists for Sanduskyesque behavior.
I was asked do I think it’s normal. I didn’t say it was.
I had and have the same reactions as everyone else. However, what appears on tv and even in a grand jury report, is not established fact.
Front page headline in Philadelphia today is that Sandusky admitted to “horseplay” not molestation.
On another issue some of the former kids are now denying molestation, the radio “news” just reported maybe in return for $$. They don’t know that yet either.
"For now..."
McQueary has testified before the grand jury. In the event he is unavailable for trial, his grand jury testimony may be read into the record and, for better or worse, can't be cross-examined.
Penn State and other powerful folks have been covering this up since at LEAST 1998, there is no reason to think they won’t continue to try to do this.
I firmly believe this is bigger than Sandusky at this point and that other very powerful folks were having sex with kids up there as well, and they are circling the wagons to protect themselves, which is what they have been doing.
Time will tell, but this is way way way too big IMHO to be just a lone wolf of Sandusky. There are far larger and more powerful players at work than Sandusky and even just PSU.
Penn is the University of Pennsylvania, not Penn State. Two different schools in a big way.
Good point. Touche.
That was my first question. How do the two parties come together? Then I thought about the fact that Sandusky's perversion was pretty much an open secret in Happy Valley. From there, it's not hard to imagine someone approaching him about it.
What is hard to comprehend this many grown men having a taste for young boys. But after the Catholic Church, nothing surprises me anymore. Our society appears to be in free fall.
Did you read that Sandusky's children were all adopted?
these freaks find each other online.
They have their own little “community”.
Not that this is definitely the situation here....when this rumor was outed and a “story” was promised by saturday?
Well...saturday has come and gone hasn’t it?
I understand pedophiles have ways of finding one another. But the chances of a major PSU or 2nd Mile donor and the Penn State defensive coordinator finding each other by chance through those channels are small. Not impossible, but the odds against it are long.
I never heard Mark Madden give a specific day this particular story was supposed to break. I only heard him say that two reporters were pursuing it and that the foundation was created for the purpose of procuring young boys.
If I assume the rumor is true, I would have to guess the “donations” would arrive after the online contact.
People don’t have to be residents of Happy Valley or PA just to send a check.
Which makes the sleazy NBC complicity in last nights presser even more evil. The lawyer for Sandusky threatened the other vicitms with exposure, on air, aided by Costa and NBC. And how could he accomplish this exposure? well, since the names are sealed by the court, Sandusky could be the only credible source of the names of his vicitms, and the lawyer is also a sexual predator so we can trust him to ‘leak with plausible deniability’ the names of those he is trying to intimidate into silence or recanting.
Good point. Entirely possible. That would point to 2nd Mile donors sending checks to keep the operation going rather than PSU donors.
