This will be an interesting case. A few years ago, the local Catholic hospital was ordered to provide “abortion services.” It refused, and HHS threatened to withhold federal funds, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements. The hospital administrators said, “fine, we won’t take any more Medicare or Medicaid patients.” It is my understanding that HHS quietly backed down.
