The groundswell of anti-clinton feelings defeated democrats, and Noot almost prevented it with his “contract with America” nonsense.
Don’t forget, Newt is the reason Clinton got re-elected. You see, once the Republicans grabbed the reins from him in ‘94, they put a damper on Clinton’s Progressivism. Hence, the electorate forgot how much of a commie Clinton really was and fatuously re-elected him.
Maybe that’s a plus for Newt in most people’s book, but not mine! A smart Speaker of the House would have made sure he gave Clinton just enough rope to hang himself.
