Mitt Romney has a growing lead in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, and almost half of the party's voters expect him to be the nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Twenty-eight percent of Republicans backed the former Massachusetts governor, giving him a lead of 8 percentage points over his nearest challenger Herman Cain in the poll, taken November 10-11.

This gets me wonder 2 scary things.

1) Obama ads are attacking Romney. I haven’t seen a negative ad about any other candidate except him. Why do you think that is?

2) Obama seems to ignore Cain despite polls providing evidence that he should not. Why?

Is Cain just a niche candidate? Loved here, but essentially unknown to the average voter?

As much as I like Cain, I’m starting to think he’s nothing more than a novelty. Pity.

I know he's raised a decent amount of money, but nothing like what he'll need for a general election. What am I missing here?

If Romeny has hit 28 percent in this poll he had better enjoy it while he can. It is the high water mark.

“online poll = garbage”

I hope it’s that simple. The thing that bothers me is, Romney and Obama have pretty bright political operatives working for them. You would think they have a clue...

Why does Romney attack Perry and not Cain? Why does Obama continue to attack Romney?

Where is Obama running ads against Romney? Why would he be running ads during the Republican primary season?

Online poll of 461 “registered” Republican voters.

This sounds extremely credible (sarc, of course).

Agreed. Online polls mean absolutely nothing, other than the preferences of a particular website’s viewers.

Be advised that the MSM, political elites and assorted other asshats are merely attempting to pick the GOP nominee again.

Pay no attention. It’s just more worthless noise from Reuters and Yahoo. Both of which are left leaning propoganda outlets.

“Where is Obama running ads against Romney? Why would he be running ads during the Republican primary season?”

I saw it locally here, in NJ. That’s what shocked me so much because we’ll likely “go blue” at the end of the day. I wouldn’t think this is place I’d see an ad.

Those are valid points. (i.e. the websites) But it still doesn’t address the issue about who is attacking who.

It makes me think that they are attacking the people with the money because they know the others can’t last. Maybe that’s just my jaded view.

Sigh...

I still think it’s going to be Romney. And I hope he picks Cain as his VP....

I guess we’ll see.

More disinformation. I’d ignore it. The only poll that metters is the one taken on election day.

Pre-election polls are getting less accurate over time as fewer people are willing to respond to them.

Exactly. An online poll about the republican nominees that is answered by liberals is no indication of the true front runner.

Please replace ‘nominees’ with candidates. I’m not quite finished with my first cup, yet.

You would think people on FR could figure this out on their own.

Nah! Gotta post the story and react the same way the MSM expects them to.

Posting an online poll...

What the hell was the OP even thinking?

>>Romney has clear lead among Republicans<<

Maybe we can even attach a clever lil label to Romney. Let's see, how’z, “Romney, the Maverick for Change” sound?

Yea yea, Maverick for change.

If you had been here longer you’d already know the answers. Perhaps you should do some research first.

The things you need to know about Romney is:

1. He’s not a conservative.

2. His poll numbers plateaued and aren’t improving.

3. He can’t carry the South.

4. He’s a loser.
