casual viewers are watching this for three reasons — to see if Gingrich challenges Romney, to be there in case Perry or Cain commits another brutal gaffe, and to enjoy the fireworks from the inevitable Ron Paul/Rick Santorum argument over whether Iranian archterrorists with nuclear missiles is something we should worry about.

There goes the Cain-hating HotAir.com lying again. When did Cain commit a Perry-style gaffe? Cain has surged into the lead based on his excellent debate performances. HotAir.com should just endorse Romney already and stop this nonsense.

Cain did stop for half a second to think how best to phrase his point. But Romney really stumbled several times. I thought, perhaps of his doublethink habit. Ron Paul was rude when Bachmann was addressing him, by gazing pointedly up at the ceiling. But other than that, I thought they all did pretty well. A bit of a bore, but okay.

We got the full 90 minutes out here on the West Coast. There wasn’t time for closing statements tonight though.
