I’m a Perry supporter and I certainly haven’t given up on him.

There are people here who hate him because of ideas they have about his position on illegals; ideas that are totally wrong, but don’t even try to explain to them. I do not bother with them.

He’s really the best candidate. He’s experienced, conservative, talks the talk, but also walked it in 11 years in Texas.

If Perry doesn’t make it, I would reluctantly vote for Gingrich. I like Newt but his glib repartee in debating format, while wildly entertaining, doesn’t translate that well into making inspiring speeches or pressing the flesh.

And Newt has a little baggage but not enough to disqualify him.

I actually think Perry’s brain freeze moment the other night may have helped him. It got a lot of people noticing him and thinking, sheesh, that’s happened to me.

If he really is the best candidate, then why don't his poll numbers reflect that?

Surely he didn't lose support so quickly and drastically because people liked Cain's 9-9-9 plan or they liked Newt slapping debate moderators around, so why did Perry drop so fast and so far?

I’m a Perry supporter and I certainly haven’t given up on him.

He was my man until he called me heartless. His attempt to walk it back failed to comfort me.

In full disclosure, I have known Newt (slightly personally, more so as a professor) since I attended West Georgia College in 1970 and even lived in his district long enough (he was later gerrymandered out ) for him to become the first Republican I ever voted for. (the treatment of Clarence Thomas was my last straw)

I also voted for Cain in 2004, so I've got two dogs in this fight, but Newt is my first choice since I think it is about time that we had a really smart person holding down the job in the Oval Office.

I thought it might help him because he’d finally figure out that he couldn’t get any worse, and his campaign was over if he didn’t do something big, so he might as well start enjoying himself and stop trying not to make mistakes.

Sometimes screwing up royally frees you up. Maybe that’s true for Perry.

I will say this — I find it unfathomable that the Perry we saw at the previous debates could have won election 3 times.

EVERYONE could relate to his brain freeze and I was telling my lib doctor that today - it was no big deal. And loved his comment - ‘glad I had my boots on’. LOL! Ah, normalcy. My doc said everyone of those candidates knew and no one helped - and I agreed. My doc said Perry says it all the time - and the obvious one he forgot.

Spot on! I won’t give up on Governor Perry. He is getting better as he gets more comfortable in the whirlwind of the debate format. Soon he will fit to pull away the curtain from the One and give him a Texas style smack down.
