Michigan is gun only and it drives me nuts. We might get tasers very soon but I still wouldnt mind carrying a decent sized pocket knife or a baton.
You're fine on folders: http://michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7-123-1586_27094-10953--,00.html
"5. Is it illegal to have a knife with a blade over 3 inches in my possession? MCL 750.226 No. Michigan law specifies that a person, with intent to use the knife unlawfully against another, shall not go armed with a knife having a blade over 3 inches in length. "

"Michigan law specifies that a person, with intent to use the knife unlawfully against another, shall not go armed with a knife having a blade over 3 inches in length. " So, if my intention is to use my knife lawfully on others there is no restriction on blade length? Excellent!

They don't seem to get it, a 3 inch blade is not necessary, it's the slashing cuts that kill you, the stabbing cuts can be treated. When you are slashed length wise on the arms, legs, or torso you bleed out before EMS can get to you. I give you the box cutter
