It is amazing to me that no one seems to recall that night. It was as if it turned on and off as soon as the police left the area. It was all over the TV when it was going on. I just spoke to someone who I worked with then and he remembers it also.
I have so many files on the Gricar case it’s unreal. Immediately before his disappearance, there were at least two ads placed in the area newspaper by someone wanting to ‘get rid of’ the DA, Ray Gricar.
They also found a bag with a receipt for a blank CD in his car...but no CD. Now think. If you were going to destroy a hard drive but wanted to keep the information it contained...
May 25—BELLEFONTE — In yet another odd twist in the disappearance of former Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar, his nephew confirmed Wednesday that a legal book containing information on replacing a district attorney was found on the desk of an assistant district attorney the day after Gricar vanished.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Smith, wondering where the book came from, grasped both covers and turned it upside down, in hopes of finding what page it had last been opened to, Tony Gricar said he was told by police.
The book opened to the statute detailing how to replace a dead or retired district attorney, Tony Gricar said.
