Maybe he should sit on a couch with Princess Nancy and make some room for Anita. Next he’ll be talking about how wonderful Gloria Allred is.

Where you people are getting that Newt was defending Anita Hill from his remarks is beyond me.

I suspicion that you don't think so, just having to really streeeeech to find something wrong with what he said.

I think a lot of people in here tonight could use some time on a couch - in a professionals office.

Newt is a smart man, pobably the most informed potential candidate there is, but sometimes he just cannot keep his big mouth shut.

The comment made by Cain did not concern Newt.

Newt STFU about the other candidates and concentrate on the Kenyan and his follies.

Oh - been here three whole days, huh Newbie.

Guess we know why you’ve joined FR.

Got the last half of your moniker right, anyway.

You know, I don’t get myself too riled up by this kind of stuff. Seriously, people say stuff, who cares? I still prefer either Cain or Newt to the rest of the field and absolutely to what’s in the White House now.
The worst thing in the world nowadays is that the candidates are basically *on* 24/7 (nearly). Who doesn’t say something dumb at least once a day? We need to stop playing the media’s game and reacting to unimportant stuff like this. I agree with you, why aren’t they taking on Romney?

Today Rush was laughing at the media for trying to make something out of this non-story, and now, Newt joins them... buy a sense of humor, Newt.

Thanks for the link - I read the part about Anita Hill. It was an EVEN WORSE answer than I had suspected. Comparing the RAPE OF CHILDREN to a light-hearted comment about whether Hill was going to endorse him is DISQUALIFYING to me, for him to be running for president. It is DISGUSTING. Cain didn’t even joke about sexual harassment, much less rape, much less child rape...he simply asked a question that had NOTHING at all to do with the subject.

As far as Newt defending Cain, I can’t speak for others, but I sure as heck praised him when he did...and I had commented (before that) that Bachman and Sanatorium were STUPID to try to pile on Cain...and that ANY CANDIDATE who gave Cain the benefit of the doubt would do very well...Newt did, and Newt has done very well. The others were IDIOTS.

As far as the Perry campaign goes, I don’t blame Cain...as I live in Texas and I’ve seen enough of Perry to understand why he’d be the first suspect in something like this.

As far as hitting the ground running...I’m not at all worried about Cain getting the right people in place and doing just that. I am sick of the $15 TRILLION in debt that your ‘experienced’ politicians have dumped on my kids and (future) grand kids. People with this type of political experienced should be jailed.

What I don’t get is why are neither of these two taking on Romney?

As for Newt, he isn't 'taking on ' any of the other candidates - he is emphasizing that his opponent is obama and that the republican candidates shouldn't play the game the media wants - tearing each other apart.

Cain, everyone is studiously not mentioning, supported Romney last time 'round - and is in it for the VP with him...at least was in the beginning, until he picked up steam he never expected too. (oops, sorry, on this thread the rule is: "thou shalt not say one word that isn't praising Cain."

Funny - they scrubbed the link - but I still had the page open:

Newt Gingrich disapproves of Herman Cain's Anita Hill joke 12 Email Print By ALEXANDER BURNS | 11/11/11 3:18 PM EST

Newt Gingrich said Friday that Herman Cain should not have joked about Anita Hill potentially endorsing him for president, arguing in a radio interview that harassment is “not something to be joked about.”

“I think if you look at the concerns we have about issues like sexual harassment, if you look at the tragedy at Penn State, if you look at how people feel in general about this kind of stuff, it’s not something to be joked about,” Gingrich said on Laura Ingraham’s show.

“He may well be innocent,” Gingrich said of Cain, “and I think it's perfectly reasonable for him to defend himself and for him to make clear who his accusers are, but these are not things, I think, that you joke about.”

Cain’s rivals have been very gradually taking a more critical attitude toward the sexual harassment charges facing him, with even the cautious Mitt Romney saying earlier this week that the allegations leveled by Sharon Bialek were “particularly disturbing.”

I didn’t ask you to debate it. I asked you why you said it. Huck, exchanging ideas with you is just like trying to exchange ideas with braindead democrats. you have nothing to offer but empty words, and mindless, arrogant contempt. Having said that, have a nice day.

“I’m thinking of giving up voting altogether, but then people will say I don’t have a right to complain, so I’ll probably keep voting just to retain that right. :-) “

I hear you...we all feel that way, many, many, times.

But the salesmanship part is very important. Reagan was able to get a lot done with that skill...he had a very hostile House to deal with, and a Senate loaded up with RINOs. Bush-41, who followed Reagan, didn’t have that skill and was jerked around like a circus animal by the Democrats, and then spit out in 1992.

“Where you people are getting that Newt was defending Anita Hill from his remarks is beyond me. “

We think that because we don’t believe her. She lied. If she had told the truth, Thomas would have been impeached by now, since those types do not just do it once.

Newt, at the least, gave her trumped-up charges credibility.

Not disagreeing with your logic as it might apply to someone else or whatever. And not defending Newt. But he has his own issues to deal with. And Newt is Newt and a bit odd. My theory (and just a theory) is that Newt is getting out in front trying to prove how sensitive he is to women’s feelings etc because he knows the women vote is a problem for him.

In fact Newt always seems to be trying to get out in front and prove how smart and sensitive he is on issues - even when he is wrong like the global warming crap. Sometimes he can’t help himself and just keep his mouth shut. Just when he’s starting to behave himself in the debates and all he pulls some crap like this.
