The word is also totally inappropriate as regards Newt Gingrich. Gingrich has more formal education than the hack who spewed up this drool.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, McCain did win the nomination in 2008.

If we did the same exact thing this year as 2008, Gingrich would be the nominee.

Some “gold watch” candidate.

It was clear that this was Gingrich’s strategy all along.

I read “Gingrich is toast” right here some 4 months ago, and I always said don’t count Gingrich out.

Republicans never nominate someone who is not famous a year before the election. That limited the possible nominees, right off the bat. And I typed this here.

So, I don’t know if “afraid” is the right word.

My sentiments too. I like Cain and send him money, but Gingrich has a tank-like quality that may be needed. Cain got himself blind-sided recently, and there’s more where that came from. We’ll see what happens when they start with Gingrich. His record seems to be somewhat mixed. I’d pick Romney as a last resort, but I’d vote for anyone whose last name I now know, regardless of current occupation, before Obama. Obama is a disgrace and (to borrow something I read recently) attracts vermin.

Actions speak louder than words.

Newt Gingrich calls the Ryan Plan "Right-Wing Social Engineering".

It depends.

The difference between 2008 and 2012 is that in 2008, the “McCain method” was novel. People didn’t think “oh, McCain is on the path to success, we must hit him hard to prevent him from being the nominee” They just said “oh, he’s low in the polls. He’s got no money. It’s Giuliani who is the real threat. Attack Giuliani.” And McCain was able to slip in under the radar.

But, in 2012, people will recognize that Gingrich is another McCain, and conservative Republicans will not accept another McCain, so Gingrich will be attacked much harder than McCain was, for a lot longer.

I don’t see the tea party supporting Gingrich, so, where do they go, who do they support?

Right now, a lot of them are with Cain. But tea party knows that Gingrich is not tea party. So, Cain could get tea party support, Bachmann and Paul could also get tea party support, but Gingrich likely wouldn’t.

The race was really shaken up when Palin decided she wasn’t going to run. I think tea party people were expecting her to run. But she isn’t. So the most obvious tea party pick isn’t there. And tea party has to choose between Cain, Bachmann and Paul against the RINOs Romney and Gingrich.

When Newt Gingrich called us Right Wing Radicals for supporting the Paul Ryan Plan?

Liar.

He called the plan of imposing premium support as the only option "right-wing social engineering."

You might like one-size-fits-all government solutions just because it came from Republicans, but I prefer choices.

What Newt said, responding to David Gregory's question of imposing premium support to fix Medicare:

"I don't think right wing social engineering is any more desirable than left wing social engineering. I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate. I think we need a national conversation to get to a better Medicare system with more choices for seniors..."
