I was rather hoping to see Paterno’s statue toppled like Lenin’s or Saddam Hussein’s....but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

It won't happen in the near future, but if more facts come to light that show Paterno covered these crimes up, it will be removed.

As for the Bowl games,I don't think any Bowl will invite them.

Penn State is the most hated institution in the U.S. today.

I should have linked you back to #286 - it would appear that if PSU wins the Big Ten outright then they have to get an invitation to the Rose Bowl. If they finish at 11-2 then they could be skipped if 4 other Big Ten Teams, apart from the conference winner, are at 9-3 or better (which appears likely). If PSU loses any remaining games then their chances are reduced accordingly.

Maybe the bowl contracts have an escape clause...the stories didn’t mention that though.

I grew up in Pa., not necessarily a fan of Paterno but not disliking him either. But the events of the past week have caused me to lose respect for him completely.

Someone posted a selection from the NCAA bylaws. The NCAA would be within its rights to give PSU the death penalty - but it doesn’t appear they will suffer any NCAA sanctions...certainly not before the season’s out, if at all.
